🎃 Bring your pumpkins to the back of the Knox Farm (next to the compost bins) by 4pm Friday‼️

Instead of sending pumpkins to the landfill 🗑️, you can contribute to a more sustainable waste system by helping us turn them into nutrient-rich compost!! 🌻🪴

Volunteer to help Knox compost more and contaminate less! 🪴🍄

We partner with Better Earth Compost to manage organic waste at our 3-way waste bins across campus. We are looking for volunteers to help remove contaminants (things that aren’t compostable) from these green bins.

No experience needed! Gloves and grabbers provided. 🧤🪏

🗓️Fall 2026 volunteer Times:
Tuesdays at 2:30pm
Fridays at 8:00am

📍Where: Meet at the Sustainability Cottage (located in the Quads)

If you can’t make it, don’t worry. You can still contribute by sorting your waste carefully and teaching others the correct way to sort waste 🧠. If you are unsure about what counts as contamination, look at the signs by our 3-way-waste bins or email [email protected].

🦋🐛Knox Farm Tour THIS WEEKEND! 🎉

Alumni, students, family and friends are invited to join us for a guided tour of the Knox Farm growing space to learn about student research 💡, community composting 🏠🪴, and help plant garlic! 🧄🪏

🗓️When: 4-5pm on Friday 10/23 or 12-2pm Saturday 10/24

🌳🐞Green Oaks Tour THIS WEEKEND! 🎉

Join us for a guided hike 🥾, visit the newly renovated Knight Living Learning Center and Shurr Hall 📚🏠, and learn all about Green Oaks and its immersion programs. Led by Green Oaks’ Director Stuart Allison and Coordinator Teagan Springer.

🗓️When: 2-3pm Saturday 10/24
📍Where: Green Oaks Biological Field Station, 1797 Truroturn Road, Victoria, IL 61485

Can’t make the tour? While the buildings will not be open outside of the Saturday afternoon tour, visitors are invited to enjoy nature independently all homecoming weekend. ☀️🌷

👚👖The Share Shop is a free campus thrift store located in the Conger-Neal basement and open Thurs, Fri, and Sat 4-6:30 p.m. 🧣🧤

If you haven’t visited yet, put it on your checklist! You might just find your next favorite jacket or the perfect decoration for your dorm 🪞🖼️

♻️Volunteering for share shop = Volunteer hours + Contributing to sustainability + FREE STUFF

Reach out to [email protected] or [email protected] if you would like to volunteer at the Share Shop! No experience is necessary. You directly contribute to diverting waste by facilitating donations and sorting items for your fellow students to find. Not to mention, you get the first pick of anything you see! ☝️

Thank you to all of the Knox Farm staff and volunteers for your hard work this term! 🍂🍁

Last Sunday our community gathered to celebrate the Fall harvest with a beautiful potluck. Including dishes like pesto pasta, pumpkin pies, squash quiches, apple c***r and more. (All with ingredients straight from the farm!) 🎃🍎🍠🥧

If you would like to taste some delicious food 🤤 at the Spring Farm to Fork potluck, volunteer at the farm during Spring term! ✅

Current Fall farm volunteer hours continue every Monday and Friday 4-5 pm until November 16th. Other information about ways to volunteer with sustainability can be found in the Sustainability Newsletter on Mondays! ♻️

We are in full swing of fall volunteer hours at the Knox Farm 🌻🪏🧑‍🌾! You are invited to come harvest, prune, water, w**d, compost, and more.

Volunteers of ALL LEVELS are welcome. 🤗 We host volunteer hours every Monday and Friday, from 4-5 pm, in addition to special events. The Knox Farm (422 Academy Street) is an on-campus urban farm inspired by regenerative agriculture techniques.

Please bring a water bottle, a sunhat, and closed-toed shoes. ☀️

Do it before it gets busy during the finals!!

Students for Sustainability will host Share Shop Donation Day, where you can bring in *clean and gently used items* for share shop.

We also have a temporary drop off station during the move out, so please refer to the Sustainability Newsletter in your Gmail 🎶
