Sandra Gray has been hired as the senior executive for the 518 Collective, a grant-supported agriculture technology business incubator operated by Sandburg in downtown Galesburg. “I’m excited to be part of the 518 Collective and help cultivate ideas, partnerships and talent that will drive the next generation of agriculture innovation and economic development in our region,” Gray said. The 518 Collective — whose name is a nod to Sandburg District No. 518 — will provide physical workspace, business development services, workforce training, mentorship and networking opportunities to help individuals and early-stage companies succeed. In May, Sandburg announced the winners of its 2026 Alumni Awards. Brittany Clark, a 2009 graduate, was named the Distinguished Alumnus Award recipient, and Victor Dantas, a 2018 graduate, received the Pacesetter Award. Both were honored for their achievements at the Illinois Community College Trustees Association Awards Banquet on June 5 in Lombard, Illinois. All students are encouraged to apply, as one application may qualify you for multiple scholarships, with awards of up to $3,000. Sandburg students have arrived in Jakarta, Indonesia, where they will spend the next several weeks immersed in cultural exploration, academic study, and experiential learning through a collaborative partnership with Universitas Pelita Harapan.
Before departing, students had the opportunity to meet with Foundation vice president, Bob Senneff, whose support is helping make study abroad opportunities possible for Sandburg students, building meaningful cross-cultural connections, and creating memories that extend far beyond the classroom.
We wish these students a safe and rewarding experience and look forward to hearing about their journey when they return! To make a global impact and support a student’s study abroad experience, please visit sandburg.edu/giveglobal.
