The fall semester has started off with multiple college visits!
UBMS students explored the College of Veterinary Medicine at University of Illinois. During the event, student interacted with different depts, faculty, and students, watched live demonstrations, viewed the animals, and learned about the college.
UB & UBMS students also visited Illinois State University and Illinois College.

NEW ORLEANS HAS BEEN GOOD TO US!

Our final day of the trip consisted of the National WWII Museum, where students claimed a ‘dog tag’ and followed someone’s journey through the war, the Audubon Aquarium & Insectarium, which included stingray pets and a butterfly garden, and ended with a tour and history lesson of Mardi Gras.

NEW ORLEANS HAS BEEN GOOD TO US!

After Thursday’s swamp tour, we learned about a local plantation, the Destrehan Plantation, and the revolt the enslaved led. Students then got to explore the grounds of the Bestoff Sculpture Garden. Our final night in NOLA ended with students enjoying live music at the hotel, playing games and sharing memories.

NEW ORLEANS HAS BEEN GOOD TO US!

Wednesday evening was capped with dinner, live jazz, a cruise on a Mississippi! Thursday kicked off with alligator kisses! We spent the morning on the swamp meeting Darrel and Jax the alligators. Our guide fed them marshmallows, petted them and even kissed their snouts!

Wednesday began with a visit to Tulane University. Such a beautiful campus! We then had a tour of the city, including a stop at a traditional New Orleans above ground cemetery. The evening was capped with dinner, live jazz, a cruise on a Mississippi!

We arrived to NOLA Monday afternoon. The students were stunned by the beauty of The Barnett Hotel and even more stunned by the awesome pizza and pool party on the roof!

Tuesday was spent exploring the French Quarter and shopping, with a stop at the Jazz Museum. The day ended with a good ol’ southern seafood boil! While some headed back to the hotel, others opted for an evening carriage tour of the French Quarter.

We arrived to NOLA Monday afternoon. The students were stunned by the beauty of The Barnett Hotel and even more stunned by the awesome pizza and pool party on the roof!

The second half of the summer, students enjoyed graphic novels and deep discussions for ELA, and math classes ranging from Algebra 1 to Statistics. Students also enjoyed a visit to Cornell College and St. Ambrose University.
