The Department of Music at Lander University - a state university in Greenwood, South Carolina.

Lander's Department of Music provides a nurturing environment for the growth and development of student musicians. Our students are challenged to recognize, understand, and practice the technique and self-discipline involved in the creation of music. The small environment affords students the opportunity to participate in various ensembles and to hone emphasis in more than one area of music. Whether you are interested in pursuing a career in music, are considering the minor in music as a supplement to another major, or are content simply to sharpen your instrumental or vocal talents through participation in an ensemble, Lander's Department of Music is prepared to lead you down your chosen creative path.

Congratulations to our 2026 spring music graduates — Davison Rizzo, MaryAshlynne Lawson, Ben Bagwell, and Katie Varn! MaryAshlynne, Davison, and Ben also sounded fantastic singing the national anthem and the Alma Mater! We are so proud of these students and we know you will be successful in whatever path you choose!!

Jay Black’s senior clarinet recital has been rescheduled for tonight at 7pm! Please join us this evening at first Baptist for an evening clarinet and piano music. This concert is free and open to the public!

The Lander University choirs present their spring concert “Americana” this afternoon at 4pm! The choirs will also be joined by Palmetto Girls Sing, a Greenwood based community choir for girls directed by Amy Fennell. Please join us this afternoon in the cultural center auditorium of Lander’s campus. You won’t want to miss this concert!

Tomorrow, the Lander University Chamber Orchestra presents their spring concert, “The Sound of American Cinema.” The orchestra will perform music from iconic 20th century American films like 𝘑𝘢𝘸𝘴, 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘞𝘪𝘻𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘰𝘧 𝘖𝘻, 𝘍𝘰𝘳𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘵 𝘎𝘶𝘮𝘱, and 𝘛𝘪𝘵𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘤. Please join us at 7pm in the cultural center auditorium of Lander’s campus to hear this program! You’re bound to hear some tunes you recognize and probably some new music as well.
