Notice anything new around here? Geneva Hannibal ‘26 and Nat Ward ‘26 spent the spring and summer walking the Arb and designing our new trail maps using GIS! Special thanks to the Rotary Club of Kalamazoo, who provided grant support for this project. Hike on! 🥾

Fall red and oranges are mixing with the evergreens, showing off a beautiful mosaic of October colors. River Sypert ‘30 took these photos during the Arboretum Stewardship Practicum today, where students earn a PE credit learning about trail maintenance, native and invasive plants, and more. How lucky are we! 🍁

Last week, the Arb PE class joined the Kalamazoo Nature Center and volunteers from Zoetis for a work day! We cut back and treated invasive Honeysuckle, Multiflora Rose, Buckthorn, and Bittersweet along Pavilion Road. Thanks everyone for joining us and helping native plants thrive!

Day 1 of our fall term Arb Stewardship Practicum PE course! Students walked trails, found big frogs, and were shocked by big frogs 🐸 Not only did we stick it out in the rain, we had fun!

Not-So-Mag is now not-so-stumpy! Lots of time and effort went into clearing this trail and it’s crazy looking back at pictures from May 2026 to see what the storm dealt us. We kind of miss our stump pile trail borders, but it’s also great to finish this project. Hike on! 🙅‍♀️🪵

Happy Monday, neighbors! Mondays hardly exist for all our colorful pollinator friends who work hard all season long. Thanks for logging so much overtime and not charging us a cent! 🐛🦋🌸

Hey neighbors! There is a statewide Air Quality Alert, ranging from Very Unhealthy to Hazardous. It is not recommended to spend time at the Arb or other outdoor areas today. Reminder that we do not have running water for our visitors. Stay safe, we hope to see you back on trail soon!
