A small uniform adaptation can make a big difference. When AJ Norton (pictured far right), Environmental Services Technician, needed easier access to adjust his prosthetic leg during the workday, our uniform providers at Cintas Corporation stepped up right away. His updated uniforms now include a zipper that helps him make adjustments comfortably and independently so he can keep doing what he does best: covering miles across campus and helping keep it looking its best.

Thank you, AJ, for all you do, and thank you to Cintas for helping make work more accessible.

Facilities Services works hand in hand with UT Public Safety every day to help keep our campus safe and ready, but sometimes that partnership takes us into situations outside the scope of our normal work.

Recently, members of our team participated in an active threat training exercise, working alongside campus partners to practice responding to a critical situation.

While active threat response isn’t part of our everyday work, being prepared to step up, support one another and help protect our campus community is something we take seriously.

Because keeping Vols safe and creating environments where they can learn, work and thrive takes all of us. 🧡

Before campus comes alive with the energy of a new semester, there are hundreds of people working behind the scenes to make it all possible.

Across campus, Facilities Services teams are in the final push to complete dozens of projects, putting the finishing touches on the places where memories will be made, friendships will begin, discoveries will happen, and futures will take shape.

Every fresh coat of paint, every repaired sidewalk, every maintained utility, every cleaned residence hall, and every completed project is the result of teammates working side by side with one shared purpose: creating an environment where every Volunteer has the opportunity to succeed.

This is what teamwork looks like. This is what serving the Volunteer experience looks like.

We're almost ready. Welcome home, Vols. 🍊

🌎🏟️ Recently, the University of Tennessee welcomed sustainability leaders from across the country for the Collegiate Sports Sustainability Network Annual Conference, and UT Facilities Services was proud to help support the event through our Office of Sustainability!

The conference brought together professionals, researchers, and athletics leaders to share ideas and explore innovative ways to advance sustainability in collegiate sports. From facility operations and resource efficiency to fan engagement and student-athlete leadership, the conversations highlighted the impact sustainable practices can have across college campuses.

At UT, sustainability is part of everything we do through efficient building operations, utilities, grounds stewardship, waste reduction, and resilient infrastructure. We were honored to help showcase the university's commitment to creating a more sustainable future and grateful to have played a role in making the conference a success.

As National Blueberry Month comes to a close, we couldn't resist celebrating one of campus's most unique "blueberries"... Blueberry Falls! 💙🫐

While it may not be edible, Blueberry Falls plays an important role in the health of our campus. This stormwater feature helps slow and manage runoff, reducing erosion, improving water quality, and protecting the streams and waterways that flow beyond the University of Tennessee.

Stormwater management isn't always the most visible part of campus operations, but it's one of the many ways Facilities Services works behind the scenes to keep our campus beautiful, resilient, and environmentally responsible.

So here's to the "blueberry" that helps protect Rocky Top all year long. 🍊🌊
