The Center coordinates and develops the interdisciplinary interests of Africanists across the University of Kansas and promotes the understanding and study of Africa in the university, the state, and the region. Its mission includes the enhancement of curriculum, the sponsorship of research, the organization of conferences, the promotion of special projects, the acquisition of library and related sources, the conduct of outreach programs, the seeking and acquistion of grants and special funding to make these activities possible and to assist the university in their realization.

🌎📚 Mrs. Applegate’s World Language Class at Baldwin Junior High School is popular with students thanks to amazing volunteers like Rameen Abdelazeem, the KU Fulbright Foreign Language Teaching Assistant for Arabic! 🇰🇼✨

Rameen spent a week in September introducing Baldwin students to the Arabic language and Arab culture, helping students expand their language skills and cultural understanding. 🗣️🌍💙

Many thanks to the Lawrence Public Library for hosting the Multicultural Fair last Saturday.

KASC enjoyed teaching Achi to all the attendees and demonstrating the amazing diversity of Africa cultures to those who stopped by our booth.
