Northern Kentucky Campus Dean Holly Danneman, MD, recently shared remarks at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Commonwealth Center for Biomedical Excellence in Covington.

Situated along the Northern Kentucky riverfront, this transformative facility will serve as the future home of the UK College of Medicine-Northern Kentucky Campus and a hub for educating and training the next generation of physicians.

This milestone represents more than a new building—it is an investment in the future of health care, medical education, and the communities we serve across the Commonwealth.

It is officially countdown to July 1 — the day a new class of residents begins their journey. 💥🥼

To help ease some nerves, we reached out to a few seasoned UK College of Medicine residents to share advice for incoming doctors. First up is Eric Vogt, a fourth-year family medicine resident with a sports medicine fellowship on the way. 🏀

Eric shares:

“My best piece of advice for a new intern is to be prepared to give yourself some grace. Residency is still very much a time of learning, so no one expects you to know it all. Asking for help is not only acceptable, but it is expected. Allow yourself the space to not have all the answers, and you will be surprised at how much you can grow without even realizing it.”

Eric completed his undergraduate education, medical school, and now residency training at the University of Kentucky. His extended time in Lexington is no accident — it reflects his commitment to continuing to serve the community he has grown to love.

This month’s Fellowship Spotlight highlights a program built on advanced clinical training, compassionate mentorship, and high-acuity stroke care.

• ACGME-accredited program with a 100% board pass rate on the ABPN Vascular Neurology Certification Exam
• Hands-on experience in specialized stroke recovery techniques, including botulinum toxin treatment for post-stroke spasticity
