Hi, I am Caroline Humphrey, a fashion studies student at K-State. This summer, I have been gaining hands-on experience as a Beauty & Fragrance Buying Intern at Dillard’s corporate office in Dallas!
Throughout my internship, I have worked
alongside buying teams to learn the full buying process, from product assortment and merchandising to analyzing sales, managing inventory, and creating new styles. I have also collaborated with my intern team on a final project focused on new ways to drive Dillard’s skincare and makeup business. I have loved getting a behind-the-scenes look at the beauty industry while putting the skills I’ve learned at K-State into practice!

Hello! My name is Julia Rieger and I am a rising senior with a Fashion Studies Major, focusing on design with a minor in marketing.
I spent this summer as a product development intern at Essense of Australia. Essense of Australia is located in Lenexa, KS and is known for their wide variety of designer wedding dresses. During my internship I have had the opportunity to work alongside amazing designers and all the people that make a dream dress come true. I have been able to gain experience in many areas including product development, marketing and social media, photoshoots, and store relationships. In the last weeks of my time at Essense, I was able to help put on the Elevate bridal summit where stores can come in to see our newest designs on the runway and make their buys for the season.
I am so grateful for the experiences I gained this summer and can’t wait to see what my next steps will hold at K-State and beyond!

Hi, I’m Ellie Tharp. I am graduating this summer with a degree in Fashion Studies and a minor in Marketing and Social Media Management. This summer, I had the incredible opportunity to be the Social Media Intern at Helzberg Diamonds in Kansas City.
Throughout my internship, I gained hands-on experience creating social content, planning campaigns, editing, writing captions, participating in photoshoots, presenting marketing projects, and collaborating with an amazing team. It was exciting to see how creativity and strategy come together to tell a brand’s story and connect with customers.
This experience challenges me to grow professionally, build confidence, and apply everything I learned in from the fashion studies program at K-State to real-world projects. I’m so grateful to Helzberg for investing in me and to the Kansas State Fashion Studies program for providing the foundation that made this opportunity possible.

Hello! My name is Ethan Loftin. I will be graduating from K-State’s fashion studies program this summer with a specialization in fashion business. This summer, I had the pleasure to work as a men’s buying intern for Buckle at the men’s headquarters in Overland Park, Kansas.
Some of my responsibilities included attending vendor meetings, making purchase orders, organizing brand rooms, making projections, and more. My experience at Buckle has been an absolute pleasure and being able to learn about the different processes during buys has been very valuable.
I learned so much during my time with Buckle this summer and I’m excited to use both my knowledge from my K-State education, along with my knowledge from this internship, to further my professional career.
