Welcome Olalekan Sipasi, our new director of Global Food Systems Leadership. This spring Mary Kay Siefers, our former director, passed the torch to Dr. Sipasi. We first met him at the Staley School as a Mandela Fellow in 2019. Sipasi is the founder of ProtectOzone Sustainable Livelihood Initiative, a nonprofit in Nigeria that supports sustainable agriculture practices to combat poverty and food insecurity.

After earning his Ph. D. at K-State, he has returned to strengthen GFSL as a collaborative platform that prepares emerging leaders to contribute to more resilient, sustainable and equitable food systems.

We give you the question cards, the plan, and the group. You do the rest. Is there any easier way to meet new Wildcats and learn more about our campus community? 'Cats Connect has two sessions per semester, and the signup deadline for session one is due Sept. 15.

Our “back to school” photos are from the Staley School faculty/staff retreat last week. One of our activities was to chalk positive messages to welcome back Wildcats, wrapping up with a cold drink from Willie’s Soda Bar.

Wildcats, we’re so thankful to have you here and to get the chance to work alongside you. 💜

Keep spreading the same empathy, kindness, and leadership as Dolly did and we’ll all do well.

Here’s the story behind bringing Dolly’s Imagination Library to Manhattan, Kansas.

As we remember Dolly Parton, we can honor her legacy by helping keep Kansas kids reading, dreaming and imagining what’s possible. 💜📚

In 2021, K-State students in the Leadership and Service CAT Community took to the streets of Manhattan to help spread the word about Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library as it expanded into the community.

Today, the program is available statewide, giving every Kansas child from birth to age 5 the opportunity to receive a free, age-appropriate book every month.
