When Dean Zach ’24 answered a surprise call at the Museum of Fine Arts in Houston, his lifelong dream of appearing on Jeopardy! suddenly became reality. Bolstered by Trinity's liberal arts curriculum, he completed a historic two-game stint with $39,000 in earnings, becoming the first regular-season contestant to double his money on consecutive Daily Doubles.

Meet the recipient of the 2026 Spirit of Trinity Award, Butch Newman ’65!

Trinity's director of tennis is a devoted mentor to students, emphasizing character, service, and academic excellence. He has strengthened connections among tennis alumni, led fundraising and facility improvements, and inspired generations of student-athletes.

A two-time All-American and member of the Bengal Lancer fraternity, Newman returned to Trinity in 1986 as head men’s tennis coach and later led both the men’s and women’s programs. His teams captured historic NCAA Division III national championships minutes apart in two different states in 2000, while 51 Tiger players earned All-America honors under his guidance.

A three-time Intercollegiate Tennis Association National Coach of the Year, Newman is a U.S. Marine Corps veteran decorated for service in Vietnam. His enduring legacy is honored by the Butch Newman Tennis Center at Trinity.

Congratulations to Jessica Dupuy ’00 on winning a Gold award from The Nonfiction Book Awards for Italianity! Written with Andrea Lonardi, this book traces the cultural thread that unites Italy’s native grapes and the people who cultivate them.

Meet the recipient of the 2026 Distinguished Alumni Award, Christopher "Kit" Goldsbury Jr. ’66!

Beginning his career at Pace Foods in 1969, he rose to president and chairman, later founding Silver Ventures and helping transform NatureSweet into a leading greenhouse-grown tomato producer. He spearheaded the revitalization of San Antonio’s historic Pearl Brewery into a nationally acclaimed destination for dining, business, residences, and culture. Goldsbury also helped establish the Culinary Institute of America’s (CIA) San Antonio campus, which hosted an entrepreneurial bootcamp for Trinity and CIA students in January 2026.

A former Trinity trustee and dedicated supporter of students, he is a member of the Texas Business Hall of Fame and recipient of the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce’s Freeman Award.

One of the most dominant teams in collegiate tennis history, Trinity's 1963 men's tennis team will be inducted into the Trinity Athletics Hall of Fame during Alumni Weekend on Saturday, October 17. The undefeated squad helped establish the foundation for decades of Tiger tennis excellence, producing All-Americans, professional tennis champions, and future leaders in the sport.
