Kat McCall graduated from Converse in 1984. She was a beloved friend, mother, wife, teacher, nurse, sister, daughter, and Augusta-based watercolor artist. Kat officially started Kat McCall Papers | Mark the Moment in February 2018. She had no degree in business or marketing, or formal art training but always dreamed of building an art-based business. In September 2024, Kat died during Hurricane Helene. The Kat McCall Papers Team continues to carry out her vision by pairing her original artwork and design styles with new art and designs created by her student and protégés. We are grateful to exhibit a beautiful fine art print of an original Kat McCall watercolor in the silent auction at A Portrait of Converse on September 16. Thank you, Kat McCall Papers for supporting Converse and preserving Kat’s legacy. Tickets are available until September 4 at www.converse.edu/artauction.

We are delighted to share that Converse Giving is once again hosting a campaign to create notes of encouragement, wisdom, and congratulations for our graduating seniors! We will provide personalized, keepsake notes for our newest alumni at Commencement rehearsal on May 21.

Anyone can participate! Donors who purchase notes can either designate a message for a particular senior, or write a general note of congratulations to share with any student who may not receive a note from a parent or loved one. With the help of our Converse community, we can ensure that every graduate feels loved and supported as they celebrate this momentous achievement. 💜💛

We offer our sincere thanks to everyone who showed their support for the Liz White Calvert '84 Spirit of Converse Scholarship on April 27 (Liz's birthday.) With your help, and thanks to the generous matching support of her little brother David White, we raised $25,016 to strengthen this scholarship and ensure that her legacy continues to open doors for students.

Liz was a true embodiment of the spirit of the Converse community. She was a devoted alumna, a member of the Converse Board of Trustees, and her commitment reflected an unwavering and lifelong dedication to the Converse mission. We are so inspired by the amazing generosity of our alumni donors! At Reunion Weekend we celebrated our standout classes who led the way for Converse Giving in 2025-2026. This year's Class Act champions are DOUBLE winners from the Class of 1996 - they raised the most for Converse AND also had the highest participation rate among milestone classes! Way to go, 1996! 🩷🩷

We are also deeply grateful to our first Spirit of Giving award winners - the Class of 1959 - who gave an impressive $102,756 back to Converse this year! Thank you, ladies of '59!

All in all, our alumni have given a grand total of $708,701 to Converse since July 1, 2025. Thank you ALL for helping to ensure that students can experience the power of a Converse education for generations to come! 💜💛
