Please join us in congratulating our Senior Marketing Instructor, Kim Land, on two awards from the National Federation of Presswomen!

Her first-place win in the Publications Regularly Written by Entrant category went to the JCBE newsletter, which makes it a double hooray for our college. Her second-place award in Information for Media recognized her press releases for the Upstate Regional Spelling Bee, which helped spread the word about an event that brings our community together.

Kim's writing keeps our faculty and community informed about everything happening at JCBE. It's wonderful to see that work recognized at the national level.

Big congrats to Mariia Fedorova, our Business Administration major Senior, for advancing to the Semi-Finals of the 2026 Palmetto Pitch Competition!

Mariia is one of just 25 student teams to make it this far out of more than 100 submissions from colleges across South Carolina, and is the only University of South Carolina Upstate student in the Top 25.

She'll present live via Zoom this week, October 19–22, for a shot at the Top 8 Finals in November. Join us in cheering her on!

At the end of September, Beta Alpha Psi (BAP) USC Upstate Chapter hosted an alumni panel with Upstate BAP alumni. Current BAP students heard about their educational journeys, career paths, and life after graduation, and had the chance to connect with them and learn about the opportunities that await after USC Upstate.

Real-world real estate, right in our classroom!

On the last day of September, Jake McCabe from Johnson Development Associates spoke to Prof. McCrady Gwinn's Real Estate class. Jake works in the Industrial Division, which develops warehouse properties in about 10 states, including several in South Carolina.
