In a new Journal of Biological Chemistry study, researchers determined crystal structures of the herpes simplex virus protein ICP8 bound to DNA, revealing new details about how the virus
copies its genome.

The findings provide a structural framework for future efforts to target ICP8 therapeutically.

Another outstanding BMB graduate student is beginning the next chapter of her scientific journey!

Dr. Huishan Liu is headed to the University of Minnesota, where she will continue pursuing her passion for plant genetics. They are incredibly fortunate to have her!

Although it is always difficult to see our students leave, it is also one of the most rewarding parts of our work—watching talented young scientists grow, succeed, and pursue exciting new opportunities. Congratulations, Dr. Liu! We cannot wait to see all that you accomplish!

For all of our students who will be taking classes in the Roger E. Koeppe Seminar Room (NRC 348B)—named in honor of Dr. Roger E. Koeppe, who served as Head of the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology for an incredible 29 years—we have some great news!
