For Gary and Mary Ann Hankins, lifelong learning is more than attending classes. It's a way to explore the world together and share those experiences with others.
After years of travel, they've turned their adventures into presentations for fellow OLLI members. As Mary Ann puts it, "We're going to keep traveling, and it's so fun to share that with others."
From history and photography to nursing, cooking and travel, OLLI has given Gary and Mary Ann opportunities to continue learning, teaching and connecting with others. "We've always done stuff together," Mary Ann said. "It just fits perfect with us."
The Hankins remind us that learning doesn't stop after retirement. OLLI creates a welcoming community where members can stay engaged, build friendships and discover new passions every day.
Thanks to generous donor support, including the Dot Martin Endowed Support Fund for OLLI, more lifelong learners have the opportunity to participate in OLLI through expanded access to programs, scholarships and travel assistance. As Mary Ann shared, OLLI creates a place for "community, the learning, the expanding of your brain cells."
