CrossingPoints Tier 1 is a collaboration between The University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa City Schools, and Tuscaloosa County School System.

CrossingPoints is a fully-accredited, multi-tiered postsecondary transition program for students with disabilities in the College of Education at The University of Alabama. 🐘 Visit https://bit.ly/m/CrossingPoints to learn more! CrossingPoints is a multi-tiered postsecondary transition program in the College of Education at The University of Alabama and serves college-age students with intellectual disabilities. CrossingPoints is funded in part by a 5-year grant by the Office of Postsecondary Programs of the US Department of Education and supported primarily the University of Alabama, Tuscaloosa City Schools, Tuscaloosa County School System, and the Community of Tuscaloosa. Tier 1 serves students with significant disabilities ages 18-21 years who are still receiving IDEA services. Tier 1 follows the Tuscaloosa City Schools and Tuscaloosa County school systems' Academic year calendar. CrossingPoints Tier 2, also known as the Summer Bridge Program, is a postsecondary pipeline program for college-age students with intellectual disabilities ages 18+ years from anywhere in the State of Alabama and beyond. Tier 3 is a three year, non-degree certificate program for students with intellectual disabilities from anywhere in the state of Alabama or beyond. Students enrolled in the Tier 3 program are full fledged UA students, who live in the dorm, enroll in UA classes, and participate in employment internships on and off campus. Our students spent week with our friends at Kappa Delta - The University of Alabama! 💚 We started with a Halloween party with pumpkin decorating and sweet treats and finished the week checking out all the pomps on sorority row. 🐘 We are grateful for the women of KD who welcome us into their home each month for fun and meaningful social inclusion!

The Senate is now in session! 🤝

Third-year student Jack was confirmed by the Senate of the UA Student Government Association as an official delegate representing the CrossingPoints Program! 👏 UA SGA is one of the most active and engaged student governing bodies in the country, and Jack will be in the middle of it. He will be a great representative not just for CrossingPoints, but for inclusion and equitable opportunities for people with disabilities. 🐘 Jack is pictured with VP for Belonging and Wellness, MaryKate, and CPP RA Marisha!

Five colleges. 18 departments. 3.60 average GPA. 85% of all earned grades as As and Bs.

At CrossingPoints, we take academics seriously, and our students guide our Program Faculty as they are advised into inclusive classes that make the most sense for each student and their goals. Each student has an exclusive plan of study designed just for that student.

No two students are the same, so we don’t have tracks, pigeonholes, or assumptions. We do prepare our students for advising with career clusters to inform our discussion as we study what specific courses each student needs to succeed to prepare them for a career and life outside of postsecondary education. The entire UA catalog is open to our students; always has been, always will be.

Results matter. Inclusive results are even better. And our students delivered in 2025-2026.

Our STEP UP celebration may be postponed until March 2027, but our gratitude for our sponsors certainly isn't!
