We’re proud to see our Physician Associate Program recognized as a Suspenders4Hope® Mental Health Advocate! 💛

This recognition highlights the program’s commitment to:
✅ Expanding mental wellness and behavioral health throughout the curriculum.
✅ Supporting students with scholarships for behavioral health clinical rotations.
✅ Promoting interprofessional collaboration through the Autism Interdisciplinary Diagnostic Team (AIDT) and collaboration among physical therapy, nursing and PA students.
✅ Development of the first PA Behavioral Health Post-Graduate Fellowship in Kansas, in partnership with the Hutchinson Regional Healthcare System.

Through these efforts, the PA program is making mental health an important part of healthcare education and preparing future PAs to provide compassionate, patient-centered care in our communities. Congratulations! 👏

Wichita State Physician Associate Program

Wichita State's Suspenders4Hope® has recognized the physician associate program in the College of Health Professions as a Mental Health Advocate for its commitment to incorporating mental wellness into its curriculum. Physician associate students not only get comprehensive support while in college, but the program also promotes and prepares students to be compassionate care givers after graduation.

A big thank you to Dr. Donna Sweet for sharing her expertise on HIV/AIDS with our nursing students this week!

We also appreciate nursing faculty member Alex Ambuehl and the MSSC Physicians Nurses Task Force for creating meaningful learning experiences and fostering collaboration between nurses and physicians.

MSSC member Donna Sweet, MD, spoke about HIV/AIDS this week to nursing students at the Ascension Via Christi-Wichita State University School of Nursing. The lecture was coordinated by MSSC and its Physicians Nurses Task Force member Alex Ambuehl, an assistant nursing educator at WSU. 🏃‍♂️🚶‍♀️ Wellness, connection, and friendly competition were in full force this summer with our Nursing faculty and staff!

Over the course of 10 weeks, participants logged walking, running, swimming, and biking miles with the goal of virtually traveling from the Wichita campus to the Manhattan campus and back. Faculty member Angie Storrer tracked everyone’s progress by moving their “pin” on a Google map.

This year, participants competed in two categories: walking and running. Congratulations to this year’s GOAT 🐐 trophy winners:

Shoutout to Angie Storrer for organizing this fun activity! We love seeing our faculty and staff stay active and have fun outside the classroom.
