🎓 What could AU$8,000 make possible?

Applications for the 2027 CVE Continuing Education Scholarship are now open.

The scholarship provides AU$8,000 towards professional development, which can be used for eligible CVE Distance Education courses, workshops and conferences over the next two years.

To be eligible, applicants must be current CVE Members who have maintained continuous membership for the past three consecutive years. This may include Individual Membership, membership through a CVE Practice Member, or a combination of both.

What a week at the iconic State Library Victoria in Melbourne! Three days of practical, case-driven learning followed by two days of hands-on masterclasses.

A special thank you to Dr Linda Fleeman, our Conference Convenor, whose vision shaped the week and reminded us that there is no single ‘gold standard’ of care that fits every case. A spectrum of care approach can help us find the best path forward for the patient, the owner and the veterinary team.

What a Day 2! 👏
Yesterday at Endocrinology in Practice: Confident Care Across the Spectrum, we took a deep dive into Cushing’s syndrome — from recognising early and emerging hypercortisolism through to diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and the important sequelae that can complicate these cases.
Our presenters Linda Fleeman, Amy Lam, Rob Shiel, Kathrin Langner, Sue Foster and Jody Braddock brought different perspectives to the conversation, challenging thinking and exploring the real-world trade-offs that make Cushing’s cases anything but straightforward. We wrapped up the day with a fantastic expert panel Q&A and plenty of practical insights to take back to practice.
Today, Day 3 turns to Thyroid & Renal Disease. 🐱
Carolyn O’Brien, Hattie Syme, Mary Thompson and Linda Fleeman will explore senior feline health, thyroid and renal function, bacteriuria, hypertension and feline hyperthyroidism — with a focus on navigating those complex cases where conditions overlap and treatment decisions require careful balancing.

What a way to kick off Endocrinology in Practice: Confident Care Across the Spectrum!

Day 1 brought plenty of energy to Melbourne, with inspiring and highly practical presentations focused on diabetes.

Led by Linda Fleeman, with insights from Renea Barrett, the day explored the realities of managing one of the most common – and often complex – endocrine conditions in practice. From balancing the needs of the animal, owner and veterinary team, to modern insulin use, continuous glucose monitoring, feline diabetic remission, SGLT2 inhibitors and diabetic emergencies, there were plenty of practical takeaways to bring back to the clinic.

We finished the day with drinks, conversation and a chance to connect at The Oxford Scholar – a great end to a fantastic first day.

And we’re back today for another jam-packed program!
Day 2 is all about Cushing’s syndrome, with Linda Fleeman, Amy Lam, Rob Shiel, Kathrin Langner, Sue Foster and Jody Braddock unpacking the nuances of recognising, diagnosing, treating and monitoring hypercortisolism.

Through dynamic dual-presenter sessions, real-time discussion and an expert panel Q&A, today will explore different perspectives, trade-offs and the real-world clinical decisions involved in managing these cases.
