Androvation 2026 | Ideas into Innovation

Androvation, our flagship, student-led, entrepreneurship program, gives students the opportunity to turn ideas into viable ventures, develop their commercial thinking, and learn from those who have successfully taken products to market.

Led this year by Senior Scholar Maya Levin (Fr 2023), Androvation ran across two semesters, with students learning from alumni and industry mentors about idea generation, business models, funding and pitching, and much more.

The program culminated this week in Pitch Night, with eight teams presenting their start-up concepts to a full house in the Junior Common Room and to a judging panel comprising Principal Dr Daniel Tyler, College Councillor Kate Harper (Apropela), and alumnus John Phipps (Fr 2022, Albon), himself the 2023 Androvation winner.

The calibre of this year's pitches was exceptionally high, with the judges noting the strength of the business propositions across the board and the quality of the presentations.

Congratulations to all participants and our 2026 winners:

First place - Smart Spray
Thomas Ralph (Fr 2026), with a platform that creates greater efficiencies in crop spraying for farmers in Australia and around the world.

Second place - UniVex
Henry Kirton (Fr 2026) and William Haseler (Fr 2025), with a digital careers adviser for government and regional school students to help close the Education gap.

Third place - Common Room
Luc Do (Fr 2024) and Tom Hawkins (Fr 2024), with an app designed to help Residential College communities and other volunteer groups and organisations coordinate events from planning through to delivery.

The winner, Smart Spray, receives financial support to take the venture forward.

Thank you to our judges, mentors and alumni who contributed their expertise throughout Androvation, and congratulations to all eight teams for the ambition, creativity and commercial thinking they brought to this year’s program.

We look forward to seeing where these emerging entrepreneurs take their startups next.

Congratulations to our St Andrew’s Rosebowl Hockey team!

What a campaign. Our ladies went undefeated throughout the tournament, bringing commitment, resilience and determination to every game.

Playing for the cup last night, St Andrew's and St John's College played out a closely contested match, finishing in a draw.

We're incredibly proud of the team's campaign and the way they represented St Andrew’s throughout the tournament.

A special acknowledgement to Secretary Heidi Taylor (Fr 2025), coaches Ben Clarkson (Fr 2026) and Henry Kirton (Fr 2026), and Team Manager Tessa Bruin for their leadership and support throughout the campaign.

Congratulations to both St Andrew's and St John's College, within the Uni of Sydney on a hard-fought competition and a cup shared.

Androvians Making Their Mark | Pascal Uxo Williams (Fr 2025)

Congratulations to Music Major Scholar Pascal on an outstanding season with the Australian Youth Orchestra (AYO), Australia’s premier youth music ensemble.

This winter, Pascal toured Darwin and Sydney with AYO as part of the Brave New World concert. He says, "This is my favourite part of the year; AYO is so intense, but so worthwhile. The outcome is always spectacular."

With only 10 viola players accepted each year up to the age of 25, selection is highly competitive and reflects the exceptional standard of young musicians involved.

We congratulate Pascal on this achievement and look forward to following his continued musical journey.

It was a pleasure to welcome prospective students and their families to College, where guests had the opportunity to explore our world-class facilities, experience our supportive community and learn more about the opportunities that make the St Andrew’s experience so distinctive.

We extend our sincere thanks to the 70+ current students who volunteered throughout the day. Their enthusiasm, generosity and willingness to share their experiences played an important role in giving visitors an authentic insight into life at College.

A special thank you to Liam Mulligan, Head of Creative Arts, for supporting the ensembles throughout their preparation.

Androvians Making Their Mark

Over the winter break, Olivia Z. (Fr 2025) travelled to London to take part in a short-term exchange at King’s College London, where she studied International Political Economy.

With a strong interest in understanding how global economics and politics shape the world around us, Olivia used the opportunity to explore these issues from new perspectives alongside an international cohort of students.

The exchange gave Olivia the opportunity to experience university life in London, broaden her global perspective and engage with ideas that will continue to shape her academic journey.

Experiences like these encourage our students to look beyond the familiar, pursue opportunities, and develop the knowledge and perspective to make their mark beyond St Andrew’s.
