✨ ENGLISH CARNIVAL 2026 | CLOSING & PRIZE-GIVING CEREMONY ✨
Celebrating 16 Years of Language, Literature, Creativity & Excellence
The Department of English, University of Asia Pacific, successfully brought English Carnival 2026 to a memorable close with a grand Closing and Prize-Giving Ceremony held on 24 September 2026 at the UAP Auditorium, marking the culmination of a vibrant two-day celebration commemorating 16 years of the Department of English.
The ceremony was graced by Professor Dr. M. A. Baqui Khalily, Dean, School of Humanities, University of Asia Pacific, as the Chief Guest, and Professor Tahmina Ahmed, Department of English, University of Dhaka, as the Special Guest. The programme was chaired by Associate Professor Mr. Takad Ahmed Chowdhury, Head, Department of English, University of Asia Pacific.
A distinguished highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of the Distinguished Alumni Award to three accomplished alumni of the Department—Shaikh Reza Haider, Imamul Muttakin, and Rokshana Iqbal Joya—in recognition of their remarkable achievements and continued association with the Department.
The two-day carnival brought together research, academic engagement, public speaking, visual storytelling, photography, essay writing, and creative expression through a diverse range of activities. The carnival commenced with an insightful seminar on “Fundamentals of Research in English Language and Literary Studies”, conducted by Professor Dr. Bijoy Lal Basu, followed by the Poster Presentation Competition, Photography Exhibition, Extempore Speech Competition, and Essay Writing Competition.
Each event provided students with a platform to think critically, express themselves confidently, explore their creativity, and engage with ideas beyond the traditional classroom.
The Prize-Giving Ceremony formed the heart of the closing programme, as winners and participants of the various competitions were recognised and presented with certificates and crests by the distinguished guests, Chair, and respective judges. The valuable contributions of the judges, faculty members, organisers, and volunteers were also formally acknowledged.

The programme concluded with inspiring addresses from the Special Guest, Professor Tahmina Ahmed; the Chief Guest, Professor Dr. M. A. Baqui Khalily; and the Head of the Department, Mr. Takad Ahmed Chowdhury, followed by a heartfelt Vote of Thanks expressing gratitude to everyone whose dedication and cooperation contributed to the success of the carnival.
Heartfelt appreciation is extended to the faculty members, students, DAO and staff members, IT Department, Public Relations Department, Auditorium staff, judges, organisers, executive and sub-executive members, and volunteers for their invaluable support throughout the two-day celebration.

English Carnival 2026 was more than a celebration—it was a reflection of the creativity, intellect, collaboration, and enthusiasm that define the Department of English.
As the Department celebrates 16 remarkable years, the carnival stands as a reminder that education extends far beyond the classroom—through ideas that inspire, voices that express, creativity that connects, and communities that grow together.
