The CityUHK College of Business Hangzhou Alumni Event kicked off with a series of exclusive company visits, bringing alumni behind the scenes of three of Hangzhou’s leading technology enterprises: BrainCo, LianLian DigiTech (LianLian), and Zhejiang Dahua Technology (Dahua).

At BrainCo, alumni engaged with senior executives to learn how the company evolved from a research lab into a global pioneer in brain-computer interface (BCI) technology. A tour of the BCI Innovation Centre showcased groundbreaking innovations, including mind-controlled bionic devices and EEG-powered interactive experiences.

At LianLian, participants explored the future of cross-border fintech, AI-native organisations, and global payment networks. The visit also offered a firsthand look at how AI is transforming payment services, risk management, and international fund settlements.

The delegation also visited Dahua, where alumni gained insights into the latest developments in AIoT and digital transformation. Through its Smart City showroom, they witnessed how AI, big data, and cloud technologies are reshaping urban governance, mobility, and public safety.

A truly inspiring start to a day of innovation, learning, and meaningful alumni connections in Hangzhou.

What an inspiring and joyous weekend in Hangzhou!

The 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲𝐔𝐇𝐊 𝐄𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐚 𝐀𝐥𝐮𝐦𝐧𝐢 𝐑𝐞𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐃𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫 𝐜𝐮𝐦 𝐂𝐁 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐅𝐨𝐫𝐮𝐦: 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭'𝐬 𝐍𝐞𝐱𝐭 successfully concluded last Saturday, bringing together alumni, business leaders and industry pioneers for a day of meaningful connections, insightful discussions and memorable moments.

𝐂𝐁 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐰𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐇𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐱𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐢𝐜 𝐏𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐞 𝐌𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝

The College of Business and the Hongxing Ranking Project (红星榜工程) officially entered into a strategic partnership on 16 October at the office of the People's Daily Press (人民日报社) - International Financial News (国际金融报). The collaboration aims to strengthen industry-academia engagement, foster an integrated ecosystem of industry, academia and communications, and further enhance CB's presence and influence in Chinese Mainland.

Jointly initiated by International Financial News and Xinguoshang (新国赏), the Hongxing Ranking Project supports China's brand development strategy by promoting high-quality business growth and helping outstanding Chinese brands expand globally. At the signing ceremony, Prof Stephen Shum, Dean of CB, and Dr WEI Zhiyong, presenter of the Hongxing Ranking Project, signed the strategic collaboration agreement.

The partnership will focus on knowledge exchanges, bridging academic knowledge with industry practice.

In his remarks, Prof Shum emphasised that CB's role extends beyond talent development. "Our mission is also to transform academic wisdom into real-world impact that drives industrial and economic development." Leveraging CB's international academic strengths and the Hongxing Ranking Project's extensive industry network, the partnership will explore new pathways for brand development and business innovation.

Dr Wei noted that the two organisations share highly aligned visions and complementary strengths. Through the partnership, they will jointly identify and develop impactful brand cases, produce research outcomes, and leverage communication platforms to amplify Chinese brand stories on the global stage.

The partnership received strong support from alumni and academic leaders, including Mr LI Feng, Honorary Chairman of the CityUHK Shanghai Alumni Chapter; Prof Zhilin YANG, Professor of Marketing and Distinguished Specialist of the Hongxing Ranking Project; WANG Weihua, Chairman of the CityUHK EMBA (Chinese) Alumni Association; and Dr CHEN Xin, Executive Chairman of the CityU-FudanU DBA Alumni Chapter.

🌟 A promising journey begins!

We proudly launched the inaugural 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗴𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗕𝘂𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝗱𝘂𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘆 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗺𝗲 2026/27 earlier this week, bringing together 83 outstanding students and dedicated alumni mentors for a transformative year-long journey.

From the mentee briefing and empowering workshop to the celebratory ceremony dinner, the day was filled with energy, inspiration, and connection. In his welcome remarks, Dean Prof Stephen Shum shared the vision of building a continuous cycle of support, where today’s mentees become tomorrow’s mentors. Together with Prof Alvin Leung, Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programmes), he also presented certificates to our mentors in recognition of their commitment.

𝗙𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗼 𝗟𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴: 𝗔𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗻𝘂𝘀 𝗡𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗮'𝘀 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝘂𝗳𝗮𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴

Guided by his belief that “Imitation may earn you second place; but innovation is what leads to first. China's intelligent manufacturing cannot simply follow in others’ footsteps,” Dr Jun DAI, CityU-FudanU DBA alumnus and founder of RoboTechnik, has been at the forefront of China's intelligent manufacturing revolution. Through his vision of integrating manufacturing and information technologies, he has transformed RoboTechnik into a leading innovator in the industry. Congratulations to the company on its forthcoming listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on 29 September, which marks another significant milestone in this extraordinary innovation journey.

When many saw uncertainty in the photovoltaic industry, Dr Dai saw opportunity. In 2011, he founded RoboTechnik with a clear mission: to develop high-precision, high-efficiency intelligent manufacturing solutions through innovation and technological excellence. Under his leadership, the company has grown into a leading innovator serving China's manufacturing sector, while steadily expanding its global footprint.

A firm believer in lifelong learning, Dr Dai pursued the CityU-FudanU DBA programme to deepen his strategic thinking, research capabilities and leadership, paving the way from its early days to its acquisition of Germany's ficonTEC and accelerating international expansion.

As RoboTechnik prepares its listing this week, we are delighted to see another significant milestone in Dr Dai's remarkable entrepreneurial journey.

His achievements exemplify the College of Business' mission to nurture visionary leaders who 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝗱 𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁, drive industry transformation, and bring innovation from China to the world.
