The College Research Impact Award was established this year to reward faculty members at the College for the exceptional impact of their research or research creation on the economy, society, culture, public policy or services, health, the environment, or quality of life locally, regionally, or internationally. 🏆✨

【 : CityUHK's two world-class research centres stage at SEAM@InnoHK Launch Ceremony 🌟】

Two research centres established by in partnership with the University of Cambridge and the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne (EPFL) recently joined SEAM@InnoHK, showcasing their cutting-edge technologies and real-world applications at the launch ceremony. 🚀

The Centre for Advanced and Smart Manufacturing (CASM) and the Sustainable Materials & Advanced Renewable Technologies Centre (SMART) will leverage the entrepreneurship training, resources, and global industry network of CityUHK’s HK Tech 300 to drive innovation, contributing to carbon reduction, sustainability, and new industrialisation worldwide. 🌱

Did you know that animals are especially good at noticing geometric features, particularly corners? 👀

Inspired by this biological trait, a team led by Professor Tsai Din-ping, Chair Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering at , has developed a new optical corner detection imaging method. This technology helps reduce visual complexity and improve both sensing and computational efficiency, paving the way for smoother VR/AR experiences and smarter robotics! 🤖

Prof. Tsai noted: “Our goal is to reduce energy consumption and improve processing speed in future computational vision systems and next-generation intelligent sensing technologies.” 🚀
