The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland was delighted to hold our inaugural RCSI Basic Surgical Skills Course at Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute Puducherry India on 16 and 17 of October 2026. Delivered by Professor Raghu Varadarajan, RCSI Regional Lead, Surgical Education and Examinations (India), RCSI’s brand new Basic Surgical Skills course covers key surgical knowledge and practical skills in open and laparoscopic surgery. Participants were involved small-group practical workstations, developing basic surgical skills and techniques through hands-on practice, demonstration and review.
A big thank you to all participants involved, Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute (including their Department of Surgery and Faculty) and Professor Raghu Varadarajan for a fantastic first RCSI BSS course in Puducherry, India. Keep an eye for updates as we plan to run more BSS courses in India throughout the coming months.
