Creating a Torah scroll is a deeply detailed and conscious effort.

On November 2, please join Ariela Housman, the eighth documented woman to ever transcribe a Torah, to learn about Jewish law, the religious ethos, and the sacred art of making a Torah scroll. 🖋️

Ariela Housman has been a professional calligraphy artist since 2003, and she began studying hilḥot safrut (Jewish scribal laws) in 2015. In 2021, she accepted a commission from Temple Beth Shalom in Needham, MA to write a Torah, and completed it in 2024.

Applications are now open for 2027–2028 fellowships at the W. F. Albright Institute of Archaeological Research in Jerusalem!
The Albright brings US, Israeli, Palestinian and other international scholars together in the shared pursuit of research excellence. We welcome applications in the humanities and social sciences on the southern Levant, from deep prehistory to the Early Modern period, including museum studies and heritage management.
Fellowships are available for doctoral students, recent PhDs and senior scholars. Awards include room and half-board at the Institute, with the remainder paid as a research stipend. Eligibility varies by award.
References are due December 5, 2026, and applications close December 6, 2026.

Twin Pillar Strategy & Mission Lead

St Mary’s Cathedral, Dublin, is seeking an energetic and creative person with a proven capacity for delivery and impact to provide strategic leadership for a transformative initiative at the heart of Dublin. This is a three-year fixed-term contract established to support the implementation of the Twin Pillar Strategy.

Centred on the Twin Pillars of St Mary’s Cathedral and St Andrew’s Church, Westland Row, the Strategy aims to engage in fresh and creative ways with the people and life of the city through presence, invitation, outreach and encounter.
