We have had a lot of fun participating in Insect Week this year! From welcoming St Laurence O’Toole’s third class to campus to explore insects, to enjoying the art of Ruth Power depicting butterflies from vintage cigarette cards, to hunting for bugs with our colleagues and learning more about insect research on campus.

As VP for Biodiversity and Climate Action Jane Stout says “Insects are the most diverse and underrated group of animals on earth - they have been around since before dinosaurs, inhabit virtually every corner of Earth and have an incredible variety of body forms and ways of living. They pollinate our crops, recycle our waste and keep our soils healthy. They are worth millions to our economies, and failure to manage them presents huge economic and health risks. We hope you join us in learning a bit about these fascinating creatures and take a peek into their worlds and why they are so important to ours”

🌍 Celebrating 100 years of Sir David Attenborough 🌿

Don’t panic if you see the mowers out before Friday, that’s the Final cut before the lawns go wild! We’re not cutting several lawns across our campuses to let nature do its thing. Who knows what will pop up this year?!

Download the iNaturalist app and let us know what you find on campus this summer!

Happy Earth Day! Here’s one small thing you can do for nature today - download iNaturalist and help us learn more about the species on our campus.
