Pink October at Stella Maria College

During yesterday’s Professional Development Day, educators came together in support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

A powerful video prompted reflection on the importance of standing by one another through the daily challenges of illness, while staff donations contributed to this worthy cause.

Sharing the traditional ‘Pasta Roża’ over a cup of coffee offered a moment of togetherness, leaving a sweet reminder of the care and compassion at the heart of our community.

Learning Together, Growing as Educators 🏫

Our Professional Development day commenced with a Lasallian prayer, providing an opportunity for collective reflection and strengthening our sense of community.

During the day, Mr Jason Gauci, a Dyslexia Specialist working with the Secretariat for Catholic Education, supported LSE’s in the effective use of the dyslexia toolbox in the classroom, while Dr Desiree Falzon, an environmental educator, author and researcher, provided guidance on facilitating nature-based learning experiences.

Mr Saviour Grima, a manager with the Foundation for Social Welfare, delivered an informative workshop on work-life integration.

Educators also furthered their understanding of bar modelling and its integral role in Mathematics teaching through the Concrete–Pictorial–Abstract (CPA) approach.

This productive day reaffirmed the importance of ongoing training in sustaining educators’ professional development and enhancing the quality of teaching and learning.

Today, our Junior School came together to celebrate a very special occasion—our school chaplain, Fr. Anthony’s 50th birthday!

A cherished member of our school community, Fr. Anthony was greeted with a lovely surprise as all the students joined in singing “Happy Birthday”. They also prepared a card filled with warm wishes for the year ahead and messages of thanks for his time, care and prayers.

Happy 50th birthday, dear Fr. Anthony! On behalf of everyone in the Junior School, thank you for being such a special part of our community and for all the kindness, guidance and prayers you share with us.

May God bless you with good health, happiness and a wonderful year ahead!
