Sam Hooper recently took an exciting step in his teaching journey by leading his first full Latin lesson for a class of high school freshmen. "Hello! My name is Amani Martinez and I spent 3 weeks this summer abroad in Nice, France with Francophonia! Francophonia is a program that offers training to French teachers through a combination of pedagogy, innovation, and interculturality. I learned so much about teaching experiences, students, lesson planning, educational games, and more through my time. I also got to enjoy the beautiful sights and history of the French Riviera. I am so excited to integrate what I learned into the classroom this year!"
Amani Martinez is a recipient the UTLA Study Abroad scholarship, now she is all the more ready to be an amazing French teacher. ✈️

We are excited to welcome our new Administrative Associate, Celeste Gardner!

Celeste joined the UTeach-Liberal Arts team in May and is passionate about education and supporting students. She earned her B.A. in Psychology from UT Austin and is excited to be part of a team that transforms lives for the benefit of society.

Outside of work, Celeste enjoys painting, swimming at Barton Springs, and she's now a fully-certified yoga instructor!

We’re so happy to have Celeste on the team and can’t wait for our students to meet her!

"My Maymester abroad in Sicily was an amazing opportunity to explore the history, culture, and food of the ancient world, about which I will teach as a Latin teacher. The trip was co-sponsored by the Nutrition and Classics departments, blending food production, agriculture, history, and archaeology into one awesome experience. The program gave me a tangible (and tasteable) understanding of the Mediterranean diet, Sicily, and Roman history, which will provide me with an abundance of examples to bring to the classroom as a teacher."
