Welcome to the UAB School of Engineering page! The UAB School of Engineering is comprised of 1,100 students.

Roughly 70% are undergraduate and 30% are graduate. We will position you for higher pay and broader career advancement, plus expanded leadership roles corporately and in the community. UAB School of Engineering is the place for students who seek a world-class research university in the heart of a fun and diverse city. We are comprised of five departments:
*Biomedical Engineering
*Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering
*Electrical and Computer Engineering
*Materials Science and Engineering
*Mechanical Engineering

Although not separate departments, a Master of Engineering degree is offered with tracks in the following areas:
*Advanced Safety Engineering and Management
*Construction Engineering Management
*Information Engineering Management

Breaking news: UAB has accepted an invitation to join the Association of American Universities, securing UAB’s place among the most prominent and impactful institutions of higher education and research in the United States and Canada. UAB is the first and only AAU member in Alabama.

The AAU last added members in 2023 and, with the addition of UAB and Georgetown University this week, has 73 members on the edge of innovation, scholarship and solutions that contribute to scientific progress, economic development, security and well-being.

School of Engineering faculty, alumni, and friends are mourning the passing of Fouad H. Fouad, Ph.D., Professor and Chair Emeritus, who left an indelible mark on the school—and especially the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering—in a career that spanned more than 40 years.

The UAB School of Engineering is a world-class institution of engineering education and research, consisting of 5 departments within a major research university.

Summer Squashed camp by the MME Department! High schoolers learned CAD and physics by designing and 3D printing their own tabletop trebuchets, finishing the week with distance competitions and an Angry Birds-style smash. We have a few spots left for Session 2 from June 29 to July 2.

So, if you have a high schooler in your life who would love to learn more about Mechanical Engineering, get in touch so we can get them signed up!
