For a second consecutive year and led by Dr.’s Kevin Liu and Tony Kim, Hospitality Management students traveled to Bethesda, Maryland this past Friday to tour the headquarters of Marriott International!

While at the headquarters, students visited Marriott’s model rooms, participated in a Leadership panel that featured Hart School alumni working in various leadership roles, while also learning about internships, career opportunities and various university programs through Marriott!

Hospitality Management students in HM 222: Hospitality Professional Work Experience and HM 252: Culinary Arts and Menu Management complete Community Engaged Learning hours with community partners identified by JMU’s Community Engagement and Volunteer Center.

This September, 50 HM students assisted Isaiah 117 House with their fundraising lunch and dinner. Students were involved in setup, registration and wayfinding, service, and merchandise sales.

Thank you Isaiah 117 House for providing our students this experiential learning opportunity!

SRM faculty member Dom Palumbo (‘19) has been named JMU’s Faculty Athletics Representative for the 2026-27 academic year!

Dom will serve as the primary liaison between JMU’s Athletic Department and campus wide faculty, serving JMU in both its academics and athletics missions!

🌟 SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: ERIN BAILEY 🌟

Major/Minor: B.S. in Sport and Recreation Management with a minor in General Business

Anticipated Grad: December 2026

Industry Experience: I’ve gained experience across different areas of sports throughout my time at JMU. I’ve worked as a manager with JMU Men’s Basketball and with JMU Athletics Student-Athlete Services. I’ve also had the opportunity to attend and volunteer at both the NCAA 2025 Men’s and 2026 Women’s Final Four. Through a connection I made at the Final Four, I began working with the Naismith Awards as a Social Media Intern and am now a Content Creation Supervisor. Most recently, I spent the summer interning with East Fremantle Football Club in Perth, Australia.

Future Goals: For now, I’m excited to continue my work with the Naismith Awards, explore different areas of the sports industry, and gain as much experience as I can. Ultimately, I’d love to work my way into a leadership role in sports.
