Members of the Larned A. Waterman Iowa Nonprofit Resource Center (LAWINRC) and Iowa Law’s Nonprofit Structure and Strategy Clinic (NSSC) attended the 2026 Iowa Nonprofit Summit, where they engaged with nonprofit leaders and professionals across the state. 🤝

LAWINRC Director Paul Thelen delivered opening remarks, co-moderated a roundtable for nonprofit CEOs, and participated in a panel. Students from the NSSC attended and enjoyed invaluable networking and learning opportunities, including with Iowa Law alumni.

Congratulations to Iowa Law Dean Emeritus N. William Hines on receiving the University of Iowa's 2026 Distinguished Friend of the University Award! 👏

During his 28 years as dean—the longest tenure in Iowa Law history—Hines helped shape generations of legal professionals, educating more than 10,000 students. His contributions to legal education and scholarship continue to leave a lasting impact.

Hines will be recognized on Thursday, Oct. 29, during the university's Homecoming celebrations.

Tort-ally fabulous! ⭐

The Sustainability Organization and Fashion Law Initiative (SoFli) hosted "A Night in the Secret Garden," a unique fashion showcase where students and staff modeled second-hand and vintage-sourced outfits, demonstrating that style and environmental consciousness go hand-in-hand.

The fashion show raised over $800 to support Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Crisis Services. A big thanks to the donors, models, and attendees for such a meaningful night! 💛🖤

2L Stacia Drey earned her summer associate position at Lerman Senter, PLLC, through the Federal Communications Bar Association's (FCBA) pipeline program—a competitive initiative that connects accepted applicants with paid internships in the technology, media, and telecom (TMT) law and policy sector.

Among her talented cohort, Drey was spotlighted as a standout student. 👏

The College of Law hosted the Iowa Supreme Court during its oldest tradition — Supreme Court Day — on Oct. 2. ⚖️

Now in its 98th year, Supreme Court Day bridges the gap between legal education and courtroom advocacy. Four outstanding students argued a fictional case before the court, gaining valuable advocacy experience in front of practicing judges.
