The Family and Consumer Sciences Extension unit of Cooperative Extension is made up of scientists from Oklahoma State University who focus on issues that affect our daily lives. These issues include: Hunger & Health; Safety & Environment; Finances, Jobs & Employment; Family Breakdown, Resilience, and Risky Behaviors.

We work closely with Extension’s 4-H to support positive youth development in the state. We work together as issue teams to bring the best science to solving problems and enhancing lives. The goal of Family and Consumer Sciences is to help Oklahoma’s families, youth, and individuals develop and grow in a safe and healthy ways. This is approached through research-based education that focuses on building upon our understanding of the different aspects of their lives and how they affect others. We survey the population in Oklahoma in each county through issue scanning and our local program advisory committees (PACs) to learn about their needs and how we can help provide education that helps people improve society and the economy.

🍅🌽🥕 It’s National Farmers Market Week! 🧡🚜🌻

This week, we celebrate the farmers, ranchers, growers, and market vendors who help bring fresh, local foods to our communities. Farmers' markets are more than just places to shop, they support local agriculture, strengthen local economies, and increase access to nutritious foods. 🍎🥬🍓

Shopping at your local farmers market is a great way to discover seasonal produce, try new fruits and vegetables, connect with local producers, and support the hardworking individuals who help feed our communities. 🌱👩‍🌾👨‍🌾

This National Farmers Market Week, visit a local market, pick up something new, and enjoy the flavors of the season! 🛍️🌽🍑
