We're proud to announce this year's alumni award honorees! Congrats to all honorees, from emerging professionals and industry achievers to alumni of the year and entrepreneur of the year.

New in 2026 is the Chairperson's Award, which reflects the commitment of past PSHRS presidents who assumed the role of chairperson at the end of their term. The award recognizes alumni whose dedication reflects exemplary support to the society and school through service, leadership, advocacy and engagement.

The Penn State Hotel and Restaurant Society and Penn State School of Hospitality Management will honor alumni and their achievements during the 2026 Alumni Awards Reception on Sept. 30.

We've launched a new Beer and Wine Industry Management minor designed to prepare students for leadership in the beverage industry.

The minor blends science, service and strategy — offering students a comprehensive look at exploring the craft, culture and commerce of the specialty beverage industry.

Open for enrollment in the fall 2026 semester, this minor is available to all degree- and non-degree seeking undergraduate students at Penn State University Park ⤵️

Open to degree and non-degree undergraduates, the Penn State School of Hospitality Management has launched a beer and wine industry management minor, an 18-credit program designed to prepare students for leadership in the beverage industry.

Celebrating our Creating Opportunities for Young Hospitality Leaders students 🎉

This week, high school juniors and seniors had an introduction to the hospitality management industry while creating a plan for a food truck business. From location to target audience and marketing to pricing, students delved into how each aspect comes together to help make a business successful.

Creating Opportunities for Young Hospitality Leaders happens for a week each summer, presenting high school juniors and seniors with an in-depth look at career paths in the hospitality industry and how hotels and restaurants are managed.

When hospitality employees believe they are overqualified for their roles, they are more likely to consider tasks to be unfit for them, which can contribute to disrespectful or insubordinate behavior, according to a new study by researchers in the Penn State School of Hospitality Management.

Deanna Taliercio recently interned at the Marriott International New York Marriott Marquis location.
