Cognition, Affect & Temperament (CAT) Lab We're a psychology lab at Penn State studying how emotion and attention shape children’s development.

At the Cognition, Affect & Temperament Laboratory, our research focuses on the ways in which emotion and attention interact to shape how individuals navigate through their social world. We do this through biological measures, self-report questionnaires, and observations of behavior in our laboratory. Our main focus is on the interaction between temperament, early appearing biases in emotion, and attention in children and adults.

Andrew graduated last May with a B.S. in Psychology with a Neuro Focus, minoring in Neuroscience and Jewish Studies. He has worked in the CAT Lab since August 2025 doing both data collection and behavioral coding. His favorite parts of the lab are coding Kappas and judging fNIRS! Andrew’s long term goals are to become a clinical neuropsychologist after entering the Clinical Psychology doctoral program at William James College in August 2026!🎓 Outside of the lab, Andrew is also a part time tennis instructor!
