This week’s member monday is Emily Elliot!

Emily is a Senior in Chi Omega from Broadway, VA! She is a CAMS major and a Math minor!

This summer, she took part in a faculty lead study abroad in Florence, Italy. She had the opportunity to continue her studies of the Italian language, and learn about Florence’s rich art history!

Lets here a bit more from Emily:

“This was truly the opportunity of a lifetime! During my month abroad I was based in Florence, Italy, but I also had the opportunity to travel to Venice, Cinque Terre, Rome, and to various cities in Tuscany (my favorite trip would have to be Venice!). I took two classes: Italian language, and Renaissance art history. I loved getting the chance to use my Italian throughout the city, and visiting museums with my art history class. I was also able to live with a homestay family which allowed me to further immerse myself in the culture. I made amazing friends and countless memories, and I can’t wait to go back one day!”

Congratulations to Sadie Feddersen on being the first Academic Excellence Spotlight winner! Sadie, a sophomore in Phi Mu, was selected for William and Mary’s DC Winter Seminar this semester, and she is interested in the intersection between ancient history and democratic structures and modern-day society.

Meet Carly from Alpha Chi Omega and Ella from Delta Delta Delta!

Here’s a message from Carly on their friendship:

We met on Instagram before freshmen year and decided to be roommates. We went through rush together and joined different chapters, but are still best friends. We are living together again this year and for the next two years!! We have introduced each other to our friends in our own chapters and have grown closer and closer by supporting each other’s chapter events!!

Meet Bruna from Kappa Delta and Sabrina from Chi Omega!

Here’s a message from Bruna on their friendship:

Sabrina and I met during our senior year of high school and decided to live together freshman year. It’s such a full circle experience getting to live with her now as seniors! I love spending every minute of the day with her, from $7 Movie Tuesdays to getting ready in the morning together, and even having game nights after dinner. I especially love going to each other’s sorority events and meeting the people who are so special to her! Sabrina is always there for me and I’m so lucky to call her my best friend. Even though we found our places in different chapters, there’s no one I’d rather walk home with after classes or go on grocery runs with. Watching you succeed in your chapter, but being able to share the Panhellenic experience, is so precious to me! I LOVE U SAB KO

Here’s a message from Abby on their friendship:

Anne is easily one of the most joyful, fun, and compassionate people you will ever meet! We were roommates freshman year and went through recruitment together. It was incredible to see how each of our different chapters ended up being such a perfect fit! Our different Panhellenic experiences have brought us even closer together and have given us opportunities to support one another in new ways. Some of my favorite memories with Anne are our many late-night chats, movie nights, or CW walks together!

I am so thankful to have a friend as incredible as Anne- someone who cares so intentionally for me and never fails to make me smile. Always grateful for W&M Panhel

Congratulations to Gracen Convington on being the first Scholarship Spotlight winner!

Gracen, a senior in Delta Gamma, worked as a research intern for the Action on Armed Violence, which is a London-based think tank that focuses on different armed conflicts around the world to highlight their impact on civilians.

Welcome back to another panhel love post! Meet Alyssa from Chi Omega and Claire from Kappa Alpha Theta!

Here’s a message from Alyssa on their friendship:

Claire and I first met during orientation last year because we both lived in GGV, but we didn’t become close until we were placed in the same RC group. Spending those two weekends together allowed us to become close so quickly, and I’m so grateful that we did. Although Claire and I are in different sororities, our Panhellenic experience has brought us even closer. Whether we’re going to each other’s philanthropy events, studying together, or simply being there for one another, we have always supported each other.

The love I have for Claire is more than I could ever put into words. She is constantly showing up for every single one of her friends, no matter how busy she may be. She has such a kind and genuine heart, and I feel incredibly grateful and lucky to call her my friend. I will forever be indebted to William & Mary Panhellenic for bringing her into my life, and I truly cannot imagine my college experience without her!

Hannah Sawyer, a senior in Delta Gamma, was recently selected for the National Panhellenic Conferences’s (NPC) inaugural Student Advocacy Fellows cohort. NPC is the association for 26 national and international sororities and is one of the largest organizations advocating for the sorority experience.

Over the next year, Hannah will engage with federal policymakers to advocate and advance the sorority experience. Let’s hear more from Hannah:

“I am honored to be selected for the National Panhellenic Conference (NPC) Student Advocacy Fellowship, representing Delta Gamma in the cohort. The fellowship empowers collegiate sorority women to advocate directly for the sorority experience, providing rigorous training in legislative advocacy, federal lobbying, and civic engagement around critical issues affecting higher education and fraternal organizations. As a fully funded program, the fellowship sponsors all travel expenses to send fellows to Washington, D.C., to lobby on Capitol Hill, as well as to national leadership events, including the NPC College Panhellenic Academy in January.

As a Government and Journalism double major, I applied for this fellowship because of my passion for education policy and First Amendment freedoms. Joining Delta Gamma fundamentally transformed my college experience, opening the door to leadership, mentorship, and opportunities that have shaped my academic journey and future career path. This fellowship is a meaningful step forward in my personal and academic growth, bridging my studies with practical legislative work. I’ve loved experiencing the support of the W&M Panhellenic community, and I’m excited to work with women from other chapters in this role. I look forward to connecting with Delta Gammas, Panhellenic leaders, and policymakers on the Hill while championing the enduring value of the sorority community.”
