「Humanities in Action」系列 – 攝影 📷

「演算法可以根據數據生成影像，卻無法見證一個人生命中真實的一刻。」

文化與創意藝術學系助理教授郭秋孜博士指出，
一張有意義的相片，
能把我們帶進某個人的生命片段中——
感受當刻的喜悅或傷痛。❤️‍🩹

每次按下快門，
不但見證時間的流逝，
亦承載着攝影者的經歷、觀察與想像。

郭博士認為，單靠攝影未必能帶來社會改變，
但影像的拍攝、傳播與呈現，
可以讓被忽略的經歷走進大眾視野。👁️💭

就如攝影大師史提夫・麥居里的作品《阿富汗少女》，
少女令人難忘的目光，
引領我們看見照片以外的戰爭與流離失所，
關注那些原本可能被忽略的生命故事。

當一張相片改變我們觀看世界的方式，
它也可能讓我們重新思考——
有哪些事情需要我們正視並採取行動✨

'Humanities in Action' Series – Photography 📷

“An algorithm can draw on existing data to generate an image, but it cannot bear witness to a specific moment in an individual’s life.”

Dr Guo Qiuzi, Assistant Professor in the Department of Cultural and Creative Arts, points out that a meaningful photograph can connects us to a particular moment of someone's life
—allowing us to feel the fleeting joy or pain. ❤️‍🩹

Every click of the shutter not only bears witness to the passage of time but also reflects the photographer’s experiences, shaped by insights and imagination.
Dr Guo believes that while photography alone may not bring about social change,
the creation, circulation, and presentation of images
can bring overlooked experiences into public view. 👁️💭

Take Steve McCurry's iconic Afghan Girl, for example.
The girl's unforgettable gaze leads us to see beyond the photograph
—to the war and displacement it represents,
drawing our attention to life stories that might otherwise go unnoticed.

When a photograph changes the way we see the world, it can also prompt us to reconsider—what issues demand our attention and action. ✨

教大星生｜在AI時代，把語言力變成數碼競爭力

當AI正在改變世界，如何讓自己保持優勢？

教大英文研究與數碼傳訊四年級學生鍾書念（Shunem）的答案是：結合語言專業與數碼傳訊能力，掌握未來職場所需的核心技能。

在教大，她不僅打穩語言學基礎，更學習運用數碼傳訊工具，培養內容策劃、媒體製作及跨平台溝通能力。憑藉技能與努力，她獲得媒體製作公司項目助理的實習機會，更曾擔任TVB節目撰稿員，透過創意內容推廣香港非物質文化遺產。

🏆 2024年12月，Shunem榮獲香港社會企業總會（HKGCSE）企業員工嘉許獎，肯定她在實習期間的專業表現、熱誠與投入。

Rising Star | Turning Language Skills into a Digital Edge in the AI Era

As AI continues to reshape the world, how can we stay ahead?

For Shunem, a final-year student majoring in English Studies and Digital Communication at EdUHK, the answer lies in combining language expertise with digital communication skills to develop the core competencies needed for the future workplace.

At EdUHK, she has built a strong foundation in linguistics, and also developed skills in content strategy, media production and cross-platform communication through the use of digital communication tools. Through both dedication and talent, she secured an internship as a Project Assistant at a media production company and later worked as a scriptwriter for a programme on TVB, promoting Hong Kong’s intangible cultural heritage through creative storytelling.

🏆 In December 2024, Shunem received the Social Enterprise Employee Award from the Hong Kong General Chamber of Social Enterprises (HKGCSE), in recognition of her professionalism, passion and commitment during her internship.

At EdUHK, language empowers students to understand the world, while digital communication equips them to create impact.
