【Bridging Classroom Insights with Industry Innovation: LMS Students at HKPC LogTech Expo 2026】 🌐📦

We believe that world-class education extends far beyond textbook learning.

On 29 October, our LMS students, led by Dr Jacky Hau, attended a dedicated guided tour at the HKPC LogTech Expo 2026 hosted at the InnoCentre.

The visit offered our students a front-row seat to the latest advancements in smart logistics, warehousing automation, and supply chain technologies. By exploring live demonstrations, interacting with industry practitioners, and attending tech seminars, students were able to directly connect course concepts, such as logistics technologies and warehousing management, with real-world applications shaping today's global supply chains.

Cultivating agile, tech-savvy leaders who are ready to meet the evolving demands of the logistics sectors remains at the heart of our mission.

Prof. Mike Lai, Head of the Department of Logistics and Maritime Studies and Chair Professor in Shipping and Logistics, was invited and featured as a distinguished panellist at the HKPC LogTech Expo 2026 today!

During the panel discussion titled “Smart Tools for Everyday Logistics: Practical AI Use Cases,” Prof. Lai shared valuable insights into how artificial intelligence is transforming daily logistics operations and enhancing supply chain efficiency. He also highlighted the university’s initiatives and strengths in nurturing global innovation talent, and shared how fostering students' critical thinking equips them to use AI effectively in their future work.

【Registration Now Open: JSCM Hong Kong Workshop 2027】
Network of Empirical Operations Management (NEOM) is excited to announce the JSCM Hong Kong Workshop 2027, co-organized with the Journal of Supply Chain Management (JSCM). JSCM is an international empirical journal known for high-quality, high-impact supply chain management research. The workshop will take place on 6–7 January 2027 at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.

The workshop welcomes empirical research across the broad field of supply chain management. Planned highlights include:
- JSCM introduction and a panel discussion with JSCM Co-Editors-in-Chief Davide Luzzini, Hannah Stolze, and Andreas Wieland
- Parallel presentations of extended abstracts and full papers, with developmental feedback from the JSCM editorial community

Managing one of Europe’s most capacity-constrained hubs under a strict 23:30 curfew and popular votes on runway extensions is no easy feat. 【Industry Guest Lecture Featuring Geek+】

On 8 October, LMS was pleased to welcome Mr Billy Siu, Vice President of Sales at Geek+, to deliver an industry guest lecture hosted by Dr Jacky Hau. During the session, titled “Warehousing Technology in Practice: Improving Throughput and Order Fulfilment with Automation,” Mr Siu shared valuable insights into the application of warehouse automation and robotics in modern logistics operations.

Drawing on Hong Kong’s logistics landscape, he demonstrated how advanced automation technologies can enhance operational efficiency, increase throughput, and improve order fulfilment performance. The lecture provided students with practical industry perspectives and a deeper understanding of the evolving role of technology in warehousing and supply chain management.

We sincerely thank Mr Siu for delivering an engaging and informative session and for sharing his expertise with our students.

【Thank You for Joining Us at PolyU Info Day 2026】

On 10 October, we were delighted to welcome prospective students and their families to LMS to explore our undergraduate programmes and discover more about student life, overseas opportunities and scholarships.

At LMS information booth at the FJ Podium, student ambassadors and student helpers chatted with visitors and shared their first-hand experiences of studying at PolyU and being part of the LMS community. Prof. Mike Lai, Head of LMS, also joined us to meet and engage with prospective students and their families.

Both our morning and afternoon programme seminars at Lecture Theatre ST111 received an enthusiastic response, with full houses for both sessions. Prof. Xu Zhou, Associate Dean (Academic Support) of the Faculty of Business, together with our undergraduate programme leaders, Prof. Anthony Pang, Prof. Zhu Ling, Prof. Jiang Changmin, Dr Patrick Tsang, Ir Prof. T.L. Yip, Dr Judy Tong, Prof. Bu Jinzhi and Prof. Wu Shining, introduced the JS3070 scheme and its four majors, giving visitors valuable insights into the study options and opportunities available at LMS. Visitors also learned more about the Emerging Global Leaders Scholarship, which offers awards of up to HK$300,000 to each eligible JUPAS applicant.

A big thank you to our faculty members, staff, students and everyone who joined us. We hope you enjoyed discovering LMS, and we look forward to welcoming some of you to the PolyU and LMS community in the future!
