安老院舍內進行內視鏡吞嚥檢查先導研究計劃
證實安全高效且大幅降低醫療成本助長者重拾進食樂趣與尊嚴

東華三院於10月27日(星期二)舉行「於院舍内進行內視鏡吞嚥檢查先導研究計劃」成果發布會。該項為期兩年的前瞻性先導研究計劃，旨在將「外展內視鏡吞嚥檢查（FEES）」服務引入安老院舍，為長者提供更及時而客觀的吞嚥功能評估，提升照護及生活質素。

是項研究計劃由東華三院社會服務科安老服務部聯同香港中文大學（中大）醫學院耳鼻咽喉頭頸外科學系合作開展。

中大醫學院耳鼻咽喉頭頸外科學系名譽臨床教授顧家銘醫生表示：「吞嚥困難是院舍長者常見的健康問題，是次先導計劃證實，於院舍進行內視鏡吞嚥檢查能切實改善長者飲食安全與生活質素。這些寶貴成果為業界提供了強有力的實證基礎，期望未來進一步推廣，成為院舍吞嚥照顧標準化與精準化的重要方向。」

中大醫學院耳鼻咽喉頭頸外科學系助理教授方思行博士發表研究結果時指出：「是次先導計劃成功招募50名院舍長者進行外展檢查。這項嶄新的外展服務不僅免除了長者往返醫院的奔波，經內視鏡客觀評估後，團隊成功為其中30名參與長者放寬飲食限制，例如減少凝固粉的使用、由糊餐即時提升至碎餐，當中有長者更在客觀數據支持下，成功拔除鼻胃管，恢復經口進食。這不僅大幅提升長者晚年生活的尊嚴與質素，更因免卻了往返醫院的交通接送、陪診護理人手及相關醫療開支，為整體照顧及醫療成本顯著減省達37%。」
