Kevin Abela has been awarded the University of Malta's Outstanding Doctoral Thesis Award for 2026 for his PhD thesis in Mathematics. He was presented with the award by the Rector, Professor Alfred Vella, at the UM Research Expo 2026. Dr Abela's thesis, entitled "Intrinsic Topologies on Ordered Structures-Applications", was supervised by Emanuel Chetcuti. Well done!

We congratulate Kevin Abela on the successful defence of his PhD thesis entitled "Intrinsic Topologies on Ordered Structures-Applications". The thesis was supervised by Professor Emanuel Chetcuti, and was examined by a board composed of Professor Joseph Muscat (chair), Professor David Buhagiar and Dr Beatriz Zamora, with Professor Vladimir Troitsky (University of Alberta) as external examiner.
