The Science Students’ Society (S-Cubed) is a UM Faculty-based student organisation which represents all students following a course under the Faculty of Science on University, national and international levels. Its main aim is to unite science students through educational and social activities which are organised regularly throughout the year. S-Cubed also works to encourage the development of an environment more conducive to the advancement of science and to extend its reach outside University to popularise science. S-Cubed has an executive of science students from different courses within the Faculty who work voluntarily throughout the year to organise activities that will enrich students’ experience on campus. Events are held regularly and range from weekend science seminars and site visits to parties and outdoor activities. S-Cubed is proud to announce our Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2026.

This event will consist of the presentation of the annual reports by the outgoing S-Cubed Executive, as well as the nomination and election of the new S-Cubed Executive Board for the 2026/2027 term.

S-Cubed reminds you of the importance, as science students, to attend the AGM in order to stay informed about the work carried out in your interest by the Science Students’ Society.

Any students wishing to apply for a position within the Executive for the upcoming term are required to fill in the nomination form available in our bio, proposed and seconded by two science students. This form must be accompanied by a 200-word nomination speech as well as a digital photo of the applicant.

All required documents should be sent to the S-Cubed Secretary General at [email protected].

S-Cubed is organising an educational trip to CERN, one of the world’s leading centres for particle physics and home of the Large Hadron Collider 🔬

During the trip we’ll:
• Visit CERN’s research facilities and exhibitions
• Learn more about particle physics and current discoveries
• Experience the international research environment where groundbreaking science happens

Trip includes:

Keep Dwejra Dark 🌑

We are calling for a complete prohibition of artificial lighting from sunset to sunrise to ensure Dwejra remains a viable site for Maltese science and future generations.

While presented as a conservation effort, these regulations would permit artificial lighting until midnight in a designated Dark Sky Heritage Area. This poses a critical threat to our educational progress, as it compromises the scientific integrity of one of our last remaining dark-sky locations and undermines the work of researchers who depend on true darkness.
