SAVE THE DATE | April 10–11, 2027

The Third WAC Training Center is returning to Fort Oglethorpe, Georgia.

Join us outside the Chickamauga Battlefield Visitor Center at Chickamauga & Chattanooga National Military Park for a weekend of Women’s Army Corps living history, exploring the training and experiences of the women who served during World War II.

Living historians:Interested in participating? Comment “Fort O” or send me a message. Planning is underway, and new and returning participants are welcome.

WAC family members: Did your mother, grandmother, or another relative serve in the WAAC or WAC? I’d love to hear your family’s story, and I hope you’ll consider joining us for the weekend.

History enthusiasts: Whether you’re a longtime student of WWII history or just curious about the women who served, mark your calendars and come see history brought to life.

More details to come. In the meantime, help spread the word!

You may remember an earlier post we made about the adorable Sgt Floopy, a WAC Sgt raccoon who “served” here at Hampton Roads Port of Embarkation with her human Pvt William Bailey. had the brilliant idea to bring Sgt Floopy “to life” at MTA with an adorable raccoon stuffed animal complete with OD green sweater and Sgt stripes. Needless to say, Sgt Floopy was a hit! We enjoyed recreating a few HRPE photos with her. Thank you to for the use of their photos
