Please join us in welcoming Dr. Gunning to the Auburn family! Dr. Gunning brings a deep passion for teaching health and family communication. Witnessing illness firsthand inspired her to explore health beyond the traditional biomedical model. Auburn’s faculty, research opportunities and the One Health program are what drew her to the Plains. Since arriving, she has enjoyed downtown Opelika and the welcoming community, along with Chewacla State Park. Thank you, Dr. Gunning, for all you do. We’re thrilled to have you here!

Congratulations to Dr. Ledford on receiving a 2026 SEC Faculty Travel Grant! She was invited to visit the University of Tennessee to give a research talk on generative AI in communication classrooms and deliver guest lectures on stigma in news writing and collaborative research. We are so proud of Dr. Ledford and this exciting accomplishment!

Grace Miles, a spring 2026 Auburn Public Relations graduate, founded the company Fresh Prints during her junior year of college! Fresh Prints makes custom Greek-letter apparel for clubs and organizations. The company is now very successful, with revenue of nearly $200,000.

The School of Communication and Journalism faculty member Dr. Susan Fillippeli will join Dr. Jeffrey LaMondia, professor of civil and environmental engineering, to guide a conversation between distinguished scholars Dr. Cornel West and Dr. Robert George exploring civil discourse, democracy and engagement across differing perspectives.

The conversation begins at 5 p.m. CT at the Gogue Performing Arts Center.

Congratulations to Morgan Adrianna Sims for being selected as student marshal for Auburn’s summer 2026 commencement! Sims graduated as a first-generation college student with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and minors in business and Spanish.

The College of Liberal Arts commencement ceremony was held on Saturday, Aug. 8.
