Auburn SGA

Auburn SGA "Serving and promoting the individual student; Unifying all that is Auburn." The SGA also promotes the social and academic life of Auburn students.

Upon enrollment at Auburn University, each student becomes a member of the Student Government Association (SGA), the official organization of the student body. The SGA is the voice of the students, promoting cooperation and communication with the faculty, administration, the Auburn City Council, and the state legislature. The SGA is organized into three branches. These include the executive, legis

lative, and judicial branch. The executive branch takes on many special projects for the students and community through the Executive Cabinet. Each year, Cabinet programs, sponsors, and implements over 40 programs benefiting Auburn University students and contributes time to the Auburn community. The legislative branch, the SGA Senate, is made up of representatives from each school and/or college. These 34 Senators actively work to promote campus safety, improve academic integrity, and address student concerns. The judicial branch interprets and makes final judgment on all decision involving the Code of Laws.

Lobby Board Applications close today! Our fearless leaders, Hadley Hartsfield and Holly Hollingsworth hopped on to give a little bit of their “why” for this group!

“Being a part of Lobby Board has quickly become one of my favorite involvements at Auburn. From our weekly meetings, events at the Capitol in Montgomery, to sitting down with our state legislators, Lobby Board has given me so many incredible opportunities to learn more about how Auburn is represented at the state level and just how important advocacy and funding for higher education truly are.
What I love most about Lobby Board, though, is the people. We may have different perspectives and backgrounds, but each week after debates, we go to dinner together, giving us a chance to step away from the debate, get to know one another, and build the Auburn family that makes this experience so special. If you’re looking for your sign to apply, this is it! I am so grateful for the friendships and experiences this organization has given me, and I am incredibly excited to lead this year’s group alongside Holly!” - Hadley

“Lobby Board serves as a way to advocate for a university which has fed into me in countless ways. Not only am I serving Auburn right from campus, but due to Lobby Board, I have the unique opportunity to be a voice outside of just Auburn grounds. Whether it’s meeting with legislators to brag on what’s happening on campus or representing Auburn in Montgomery, it’s all an opportunity to love Auburn. With that, I have a huge passion for civil discourse and the need for it on college campuses. Lobby Board is a great opportunity to stretch yourself and grow in your perspective- discussing topics with students with all different backgrounds, ideas, and values. Truly, Lobby Board is a chance to love Auburn, grow community, and stretch yourself” - Holly

Last of August! This week we have a mentor-mentee duo who built a friendship beyond their assignment! Harper Lee (FF 2024-2025) serves as one of our assistant directors of Hey Day, and Eliza (FF 2023-2024) serves as our AVP of Media Operations!

“Freshman Forum was an unexpected blessing and pillar of my Auburn journey! I had no idea the immeasurable impact this program would have on me as a freshman, and the way it would continue to impact me today. More than any professional development or leadership skill, FF gave me my people—it gave me Eliza! While paired to be my forum mentor, Eliza quickly turned into a lifelong, steadfast friend. Her heart is so evidently rooted in service to those around her and to Auburn. She teaches me what it means to lead with humility and selflessness, always by example and never for recognition. She has truly been my biggest source of encouragement in every season of life, investing her rich wisdom, time, and support every step of the way. Eliza has truly shaped who I am today, and I hold such gratitude for her! I am forever indebted to Forum for her friendship!!” - Harper

“I always describe my Forum experience as a happy accident, as I applied simply so I could make new friends and learn a little more about Auburn. Having never done SGA in high school, I came in very nervous but it was made abundantly clear that Forum was a place for everyone! The friendships I made have lasted through my senior year and have shaped me into the person I am today. One of the biggest blessings in my life came the year after, when I began serving on Cabinet, and that is Harper Lee. She is the kind of person I want to be when I grow up, always meeting people where they are and leading with the grace usually found in those much older than college students. We were instant friends- never defined by our assigned mentorship- and getting to experience college with the younger sister I never had is a true gift! Freshman Forum instilled the kind of values that have helped us grow throughout our years in and outside of SGA, and I couldn’t be more thankful for the friend that I found Harper Lee!“ - Eliza

A great week at the STARS Conference in Florida! Holly Hollingsworth and Brooks Billingsley represented Auburn External Affairs at the conference, hosted by the Higher Education Partnership of Alabama. They had the opportunity to connect with state legislators, fellow SGAs, and higher education leaders from across the state, while sharing Auburn’s perspective on civil discourse and the importance of our Lobby Board. We are grateful for the opportunity to learn, connect, and advocate for Auburn!

One more before the first day of class!! Sophia and Alana’s friendship sure is special and are grateful for the gifts forum gave them!!

“Freshman Forum is one of those experiences that it’s hard to put into words. It’s a place to come to every week where you’re challenged by unique perspectives and you’re empowered by people that see your vision. It gave me people to lean on, to grow through Auburn with and to help me dream BIG. Forum gave me the opportunity to see and touch corners of Auburn’s campus that I didn’t even know existed. It rooted a sense of belonging in me and gave me mentors that I still rely on to this day, but it was a fellow forumer that I looked up to the most. Alana and I met through Forum and it’s something we share gratitude for each and every day! She makes me a better person and watching her walk in purpose at Auburn is one of my greatest joys. You never know what person might be waiting on the other side of an application or an interview, because sometimes it will be your best friend!”
- Sophia Weber

“Applying for Freshman Forum has been one of the most impactful decisions I’ve made since I’ve been at Auburn. It introduced me to the most driven and inspiring peers and mentors that emphasized the importance of bettering the Auburn community. I was encouraged to put myself out there and get involved on campus and that has been so formative to my time here. More than the professional skills I gained from Forum, it introduced me to Sophia. Through her I have learned what it means to be a leader. She’s the first person I call and share not only successes but the moments of growth. I am so incredibly proud to call her my friend. Sophia has shown me true friendship over the past two years I have known her and I can’t wait to see what she accomplishes in the future.”
