Earlier this month, some of Dr. Ahnell’s online students came to campus for an in-person seminar! Her French and Spanish foreign language education students participated in several in-person teaching demos with other professors and mentors experienced in teaching a foreign language.

Students put together lessons and taught as they would in an actual classroom, while also getting feedback from peers and professionals!

Join us in congratulating, Dr. Lizzy Harkey, who recently defended her dissertation in Secondary Mathematics Education. 👏

Her study explored middle grades mathematics teachers’ experiences implementing improvement science methods, including Plan-Do-Study-Act cycles (PDSA Cycles; Bryk et al., 2015) with scaffolded support from an instructional coach, and how these experiences impacted the teachers' use of the Mathematics Teaching Practices (MTPs; National Council of Teachers of Mathematics [NCTM], 2014) and their adoption of an inquiry stance (Farmer et al., 2003) toward their continued professional learning.
