Graduate Biomedical Sciences (GBS) is an interdisciplinary PhD training program at UAB

GBS offers eight interdisciplinary themes:

• Biochemistry and Structural Biology
• Cancer Biology
• Cell, Molecular and Developmental Biology
• Genetics, Genomics, and Bioinformatics
• Immunology
• Microbiology
• Neuroscience
• Pathobiology, Pharmacology and Physiology

🎉 Welcome to the GBS Team, Tayana Robinson! 🎉

We are excited to welcome Tayana Robinson as our new Program Administrator II.

She holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology, an MA in Applied Sociology, and an MS in Artificial Intelligence in Medicine & Health Education from UAB.

Fun Fact: A lifelong learner, Tayana loves discovering new things and can easily find herself down a YouTube rabbit hole exploring everything from communication tips to random fun facts.

We are thrilled to have her as part of the GBS family!

👋Meet our UAB Graduate Biomedical Sciences (GBS) Communications and Events Specialist, Jenny Keogh!

🐲Jenny manages student events as well as assists with student recruitment, internal and external communications for GBS. She says, “I love connecting with students and being alongside them every step of the way from learning about our program, helping them navigate the application process, and moving to Birmingham and starting their graduate school experience. I love that I get to be some people’s first introduction to the South, Birmingham, or UAB!”

🐉Jenny shares her gratitude for a place that she calls home - UAB, “I’m so thankful for the amazing support system I found at UAB and in Birmingham. I truly feel as though I’ve made friendships and connections that go beyond just work or school.”💚

😇In her spare time, she enjoys, “exploring new spots in Birmingham! I feel as though there are always new places and events opening in town and I love trying new things and getting involved in the community. I moved to Birmingham about a year ago and am always learning about new things to do!”🤩
