We are excited to introduce our amazing panelists for Black Albina! 🌱

Albina, once a vibrant hub for Portland’s African American community, has faced significant challenges over the years. Gentrification and environmental injustices have shaped the landscape, posing threats to the very essence of this historic district. Through a panel discussion we’ll examine the complex interplay between development, displacement, and community resilience for Black Oregonians. In this gathering, we aim to shed light on the profound impact of gentrification and environmental injustices that have shaped the Albina neighborhood, while also envisioning a future guided by the leadership of Albina Vision Trust.

Join Community Engagement & Leadership in a poster making event in support of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) and Take Back the Night on Thursday, April 25th from 5-7pm in the SEC lobby!

Take Back the Night is an internationally recognized event held to protest sexual violence in all its forms and to provide a safe, confidential space for survivors of sexual violence to share their stories. Since the early 1970s, Take Back the Night rallies and speakouts have been held across the world—including on college campuses like Oregon State—to bring awareness to the widespread issue of sexual violence, amplify the voices of survivors and create communities that are safer for all to walk at night. This year’s Take Back the Night at OSU will feature a rally with keynote speakers and student performers, a march, and a survivor speakout.

In support of this march, our office will be hosting a poster making in the Student Experience Center(SEC) lobby. Come hang out with our student staff and create posters with us before Take Back the Night’s rally & march!

For more information or accommodations for disabilities, please contact 541-737-3041 or [email protected].

Are you and your student organization looking for a space for intentional and meaningful conversations?

Dialogues By Request is an extension to our traditional Community Dialogue events and is offered upon request for students within student organizations & clubs, fraternity & sorority chapters, departments, classes, staff teams, and other groups within the OSU community. We offer a variety of dialogical formats and encourage a consultation with one of our staff members in order to identify the best format fit for the conversation you wish to have.

Dialogues by Request are conversations specifically tailored to discuss a topic of your choosing. Our formats center around practicing dialogical skills and utilizing active listening and participation. We believe that these skills further help in seeking nuanced perspectives within the community and develop one’s leadership style.

The two most commonly-used dialogue formats used in our events are story circles and fishbowl. If you would like more information about these formats and more, please feel free to contact us at [email protected].

Request Form at beav.es/cel-dialogue.
