Last month, we met up with the Kalamazoo Seed Collaborative for a planning and seed sorting day! We are excited to be a part of the Collaborative along with our friends at Kalamazoo Valley Community College, Kalamazoo Public Library, Kalamazoo Valley Museum and Portage District Library

We're getting ready for the 2025 growing season by sorting, cleaning and portioning seeds into envelopes for growers to take home for free. The itty, bitty seeds featured in the photos are coneflower seeds, which are native to Michigan and great for pollinators. From herbs and vegetables to native plants and flowers, we've got you covered thanks to many seed donations!

Our seed cabinet will be restocked in mid to late February for growers who like to start seedlings indoors.

WMU Libraries

Waldo Library is Western Michigan University’s main library serving students, faculty, and staff. Focused on academic research support all 4 libraries have resources and services to assist a freshman working on their first college research paper, a graduate student needing to find more on-target resources for a project and a study commons. Over 14 librarians provide help to instructors needing a new class resource or more specific database articles for a grant proposal.

Maybee Music and Dance Library in Dalton Center supports the unique needs of music and dance students. Swain Education Library in Sangren Hall supports soon-to-be teachers with education resources and services. Zhang Legacy Collections Center: Archives and Regional History supports the WMU historical needs and archives historical materials for a 12 county area of southwest Michigan.

Beyond providing spaces for study and team meetings, services include research consultation time with specialized librarians and course research instruction for professors. Ask a librarian. http://wmich.edu/library/services/appointments
