Students in adjunct professor Issac Fowler’s sports documentary course produced “It’s Not About Me: A Rick Barnes Story,” a documentary that explores men’s basketball head coach Rick Barnes beyond the court. Construction on three new residence halls on the site of Carrick and Reese Halls begins today. The new buildings will provide campus housing and additional classrooms and are expected to be completed in fall 2029. UT is investing in high-impact research, scholarship and creative activity through the inaugural awards of its Ascent Program for the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Designed to support transformative projects with disciplinary and institutional impact, the new internal funding initiative provides awards of up to $50,000 for up to three years. Awards in the first round span the disciplines of music, architecture, art history, archaeology and film.
