On Alumni Friday ( ), Betty Ann Sykes shared the following tribute. I wanted to make sure as many alumni as possible had a chance to reflect on Betty Ann's thoughts.
"I am giving a gift to Johnson University in memory of my mother, Billie Clark, who was a JBC alumnus as well as a graduate of Johnson Academy. As a young girl she knew Ashley and Emma Johnson and told me Dr. Johnson helped her pick blackberries one time. She lived a life of devotion to Christ and service to His kingdom. She and her cousin were instrumental in keeping the doors of Gap Creek Christian Church open. She regularly went early to light the fire so there would be heat when others came. She taught 2nd grade at Gap Creek Elementary School and was always helping needy children. She set a high bar of how to be a good wife and mother. She demonstrated her love for Christ by opening a children's home which she ran until her health deteriorated. She was always caring for others. She instilled in me a deep love of Johnson Bible College/University." - Betty Ann Sykes
61 donors, $6,000 raised to support Bible and Theology scholarships, scholarships for alumni children, the Center for the Sciences, and much more! May the Lord do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine through the testimonies shred and funds raised.
