The Jaguar Marching Band is an ensemble of 250 select musicians, color guard, and a feature twirler. Housed in the Department of Music within the College of Arts and Sciences, the University's largest academic division, the Jaguar Marching Band serves as an ambassador for the University, a model of marching technique and instruction for the music education community, and a touchstone for Jaguar fa

ns and alumni. Membership is open by audition to all full-time students at the University of South Alabama, and students do not have to major or minor in music in order to participate in the Jaguar Marching Band. The band owns all of the instruments and equipment used for performance. All students who are admitted are awarded a scholarship, and there are no due, no fees, and no fundraisers. The Jaguar Marching Band is under the direction of Director of Bands, Dr. William H.

With an ambitious vision for the future, the University of South Alabama launched a $400 million capital campaign, “Where Bold Begins,” to expand educational opportunities, advance innovation and enhance patient care. The announcement was made during a celebratory on-campus event at the Student Center on Thursday, April 23.

💙 The USA Capital Campaign Launch event will be held Thursday, April 23, at 10 a.m. in the Student Center North Atrium. Parking will be available in Lot 607. There will be free food, giveaways and music!

Assistant Professor of Tuba Dr. Clayton Maddox celebrated with the tuba-euphonium quartet, Tuba Mobile (featuring only freshmen and sophomores), after they won first place in the chamber ensemble competition at the Southeastern Regional Tuba and Euphonium Conference!

Alumnus Mark Sayler ‘25 won first prize in the Solo Tuba Artist competition. Adjunct Faculty Member Kimiko Yamada-Maddox performed in a solo euphonium recital, accompanied by graduate student Alexandra Harvey on piano, and the Tuba-Euphonium Ensemble performed as part of a juried invitation.
