Congratulations to Dr. Reilly Bealer, Class of 2023! 🎉

Currently completing her OB/GYN residency at the University of North Carolina Hospitals in Chapel Hill, Dr. Bealer has matched into a Complex Benign Gynecology fellowship at Northwestern University’s McGaw Medical Center in Chicago beginning July 2027.

We’re proud to celebrate her accomplishments and look forward to seeing her continued impact in women’s health!

WSU Elson S. Floyd College of Medicine students are making an impact beyond the classroom!

Last month, medical students represented the College at the Washington State Medical Association (WSMA) Annual Meeting in Spokane, participating in policy discussions, building professional connections, and taking on leadership opportunities.
Students represented WSU in the House of Delegates, assumed leadership roles within the WSMA Medical Student Section, and explored ways to strengthen their involvement in organized medicine.

MS1 Isabela Lydston also spoke at the WSMA Foundation Gala, while MS3 Madelyn Hartrim-Lowe was elected student trustee on the WSMA Board of Trustees.

In another important achievement, WSU students co-authored the resolution “Sustainability and Retention for Child Abuse Medical Teams,” which was adopted with amendments by the WSMA House of Delegates.

We’re proud of our students for bringing their perspectives to statewide conversations and advocating for policies that support physicians, patients, and communities across Washington. ❤️

As Women in Medicine Month comes to a close, we’re wrapping up our series with Jennifer Kurtulus and the woman who inspires her most: her mom.

Throughout this series, we’ve heard stories of mothers, aunts, and mentors whose strength, compassion and example helped shape the people who are caring for others and leading the future of healthcare.

Here’s to the women who inspire us, the women who inspire them, and the next generation who will carry their stories forward.

Who inspires the people who inspire us? ❤️🐾

For Dr. Radha Nandagopal, MD, FAAP, Vice Dean for Educational and Faculty Affairs, the women who shaped her life is her maternal aunt, a woman whose life and influence left a lasting mark on her.

Her story is a reminder that the women who inspire us don’t always have to be in the room to shape who we become. Their lessons, strength and example can stay with us—and continue to inspire the next generation.

Congratulations to Amber Huang, MD, Class of 2022, on matching into a competitive Surgical Critical Care Fellowship at Oregon Health & Science University! 🎉

Dr. Huang currently serves as surgery chief resident at the Swedish First Hill Surgery Residency Program in Seattle. For her next chapter, she’ll head to OHSU to gain advanced subspecialty training at Oregon’s only academic Level 1 trauma center.

For April D. Davis, PhD, MS, RDN, ACSM-CEP, Director of Graduate Dietetics (MS CPD) and Associate Professor, the women who inspired her played an important role in her decision to pursue health care.
